Plans Change....

By

Of COURSE, my residency card was shipped on Friday, after I left on Thursday.   This dang card was supposed to take SIX MONTHS to arrive, and instead, they sent it in SIX WEEKS.   I thought I was safe in traveling.   If I don't pick it up within 6 days of delivery, it goes back to AIMA, and good luck in getting one in MONTHS.

AIMA sends it with the restrictions of a signature BY THE PERSON.

SO, called the airline, and canceled my hotel reservations, and will return to Portugal on Tuesday.   I have a trip scheduled to Luxembourgh on Monday, and cannot get my money back.   The hotel in Bruges won't refund my money either.   PLUS, Brussels Air gave me a discount flying home, but still....

DRATS, but there is always time for another trip, and LOVE Brussels.   It is lively, friendly and love the sights.

Good morning Joan. Always time for more trips, and easier with the residency card. Plan "B" covers it. Have fun on your adventure Monday.

Thank you very much, Joan, for sharing this experience.

Moving to another country has a number of challenges.

Wayne, at least I know there can always be another trip here to explore what wasn't finished.

Hi Joan Cox, Retired Broker/Owner

How frustrating is that? DANG! And you'd think the hotels would at least give you a credit. See, ya can't believe the government anywhere...lol . Honestly, though, I would view this as the Lord having something better in store. Look what's happening in France right now.

Doug Dawes I know, but will NOT stay at that hotel on the next trip.  I did see the protestors in France.  What a shame.  Belgium is at a Level 2 right now also.

Well working with governments one always requires a plan B or even C.  Sad to read of your most recent challenge.
