As Vintage Township’s Kids Talent Show approaches, kids in the neighborhood are searching high and low for a partner, a costume and the perfect song that will best show off their natural talents. But some children - along with many of us adults - are not yet aware of these exceptional abilities. Along with costumes, the children may also be searching high and low for their hidden talents.
Here are a few strategies you and your children can practice to help discover a passion that neither of you were aware of! This may help you and your child uncover an appreciation for the arts as well as give you some extra time to spend together!
Look for early signs – Did your children start wiggling around to music before they were even crawling? Dancing may be their thing! If they banged pots and pans together as a toddler, they may be natural percussionists! Looking back to when your kids were smaller, you may be able to point out some of their hidden talents. Think of these toddler times, write down all of the early signs, and see if any pan out!
Reenacting – Are your children exceptionally good at celebrity impressions? Do you think they could make better characters than the actors on TV? Try some exercises that may bring out the movie stars in them. Watch a TV show together and reenact a scene. Try having your children impersonate their favorite cartoon character. You may discover that acting has been their hidden talent all along!
Karaoke – Was your child singing before crawling? He/she may be the next Whitney Houston. Try inviting friends over for a Kickin’ Kids Karaoke Party. And if you lack the karaoke equipment, turn the sound low and sing really, REALLY LOUD!
After having fun discovering those hidden talents, take some time each day to practice, practice, practice! And on August 9th, when the big moment arrives, show them off on August 16th at the Vintage Township’s Kids Talent Show! While you’re there, get to know Vintage Township, the new traditional neighborhood, in Lubbock, Texas. Stay for a visit, meet the neighbors, and take a tour of their available new homes.
