3rd time, NOT Selected By NVAR Nomination Committee

Real Estate Broker/Owner with Northern Virginia Homes - FRANKLY REAL ESTATE Inc

So a few of you might know that I lost in my race to get onto the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors Board of Directors last year. Lost by 200 votes (out of 1200).

Anyhow, this year I am trying again.

Step 1 is to go in front of a nomination committee. A short cut, if you will, to the ballot. This was my 3rd time trying that route. Out of the 15 candidates, they picked 11. I was in the bottom 4.

So now onto part 2. While last year 200 petitions was what was needed (in 2-3 weeks), this year they changed it to 300.

So will you help me again? Help me get NVAR members to sign and fax in a piece of paper?

Details to follow.

Wow, y'all are competitive.  Down here the nominating comittee usually has to call and beg a few more people to participate.

Hi Frank & all the best to you in your run.  I'm not a realtor & don't know any so I don't think I can help you in that area.  But as a consumer and wannabe homebuyer who has learned an enormous amount of truly helpful information from reading your blogs I must say that  YOU are exactly the sort of person that NVAR desparately NEEDS to help drag it kicking & screaming into this new world of consumer-friendly professional service.

You must scare the bejibbers out of the old-school dinosaurs up there who still believe that bottlenecking the free flow of information and stifling all constructive criticism is still the business model to go with in 2008--- even though now that the bubble has popped, the fact is there are millions of Americans who view realtors as no better than pimps.

As this all worsens, your industry is looking at a "public relations" debacle the likes of which it has never seen before.  They need somebody like you desparately, much more so than you need them, but institutional arrogance undoubtedly prevents them from seeing beyond the next commission check.

That said, all the best of luck to you, frank, Frank in your camopaign-- you knew what you taking on when you did it, and I applaud your courage in continuing to do it anyway.  Would that there were more like you.

PS:  though your link to "leave a comment" here shows up in highlight, there's something wrong as it won't allow the cursor to come up to actually click it.  So I just went ahead & typed this comment in the box & click submit & hope that it works---

Guilty by association

Frank, I commend you for seeking a leadership position.  I just wonder why you'd choose to degrade yourself by doing it through NVAR.

Frank:  Good luck to you.  I'm out here in PWAR and know some members of NVAR.  I'll see what I can do to nudge them to help.
