Mayor Leonard Desiderio has appointed Thomas D'Intino to the chief's position. The new chief will be sworn in on July 31. This is a provisional appointment as he must pass a state civil-service police chief's test, which is administered in December.
Thomas D'Intino is also the emergency management coordinator and recently implemented the reverse 911 system for the city. This system also allows second-home owners out of the area to sign up for the reverse 911 phone calls.
