Driving to Work

Real Estate Agent with Fonville Morisey Realty

Driving to work from Chatham County is not a chore, it is an adventure!  I don't know of too many places where driving to work includes driving down roads with names like "Chicken Bridge" or "Silk Hope Gum Springs Road."  Driving to work here means watching for deer on the side of the road or watching for turtles, geese, ducks, squirrels, and all kinds of critters crossing the road.  It means taking a peek at the Haw River every day.  And, it means that even when I am in a hurry, my stress level stays managable because I can enjoy what I see in my surroundings while I travel.

I used to commute to Los Angeles every day.  Freeways jammed with cars, miles of concrete and roofs of houses is all I could see.  It made me tired just to be there, even if I wasn't in a hurry.  I have no desire to go back to that environment and hope I never have to.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my new blog in such a welcoming manner! I'm glad to hear that this will be an entertaining group.  I look forward to learning lots of new things and getting to know all of you.

Shay - I'm not sure I've been to Ocean Isle Beach, but I"m sure it is beautiful.  I love the small town atmosphere of Chatham County.  Someone asked me today if we had a Wal-mart in town and I could gladly tell him "no."  I may have to travel farther to get to a Wal-mart or Target, but its nice not to have the congestion of a big store right in town.

Welcome to ActiveRain, Linda! Your drive sounds like a great alternative to the concrete freeways of the Las Vegas valley. We get a few nice mountain views, but no wildlife or rivers in sight!

Thanks again for all the warm welcomes!

Tracy - I will certainly give you a call sometime.  I appreciate the offer.  Cary is a great town.  I am working with a client right now who wants a weekend townhome in Cary.  He and his family do a lot of traveling.  They live in Fayetteville and want to a place close to RDU.

Keith - I have driven through Las Vegas many times.  I always appreciate it's own special type of beauty.   After living in the deserts north of Los Angeles for so many years, I have to say that I enjoy driving through the woods a lot better.  The other day, I was driving down a two lane road and cars on both sides of the road came to a halt.  When I looked ahead to see what was going on, I saw a line of geese walking across the road.  They were walking across the road, all in a straight line, to go to the lake on the other side.  Maybe it sounds silly, but it adds some joy to my day to see something like that - even when I am dead tired from a long day of working with clients.
