I tried "retirement" and I tried ...

•· Lunch with friends

•· Visits with family

•· Outings with the grandkids including Chuck E. Cheese

•· Thoroughly cleaned my house

•· New recipes

•· Trips to the library & getting "lost" in a good books

•· Shop until I dropped over the holidays and beyond...

•· A vacation in the sunny south and Caribbean cruise

•· Shoveling snow and more snow just for exercise, of course

•· Flowers and yard work, etc.

•· First mate duties aboard our 28' Marinette, US'N TWO, with my retired Navy captain husband, Dave

•· Part-time job working with my daughter at Landmark Square Apartments

But!!! I was bored.

I am excited to say that I will be teaching for Howard Hanna's, Alan Kells Schools of Real Estate. I haven't been this enthused about work for a LONG TIME.

This career opportunity takes me back to my roots, as my degree is Education and I taught for 16+ years before changing careers in 1986. I listed and sold real estate for several years and then moved into real estate management, recruiting, training new agents and teaching real estate classes as well as continuing to list and sell. Gradually I gave up teaching and selling and finally in the fall of 2007 I tried retirement... (back to top)

Mary, all the things you listed sounded fabulous and I think you should continue doing some of them. But I did notice how excited you are about teaching and and I say to you "you go girl!"

BTW about your ship the US'N 2.... is that a sailboat or motor? The reason I ask is we have a 21' sailboat Serendipity and my husband wants me to be first mate. We haven't sailed yet and neither of us ever have. It is all a bit scary to me!

I just sent photo of US'N TWO on Presque Isle Bay with Erie, PA in the background. Beautiful Lake Erie is connected to the Bay. Other than Real Estate education the water is my passion.

Hi Mary! I guess what counts the most is being happy with what you are doing. We are looking forward to John's retirement in another 4 years. We have the property bought and waiting for us in Wilmington, NC about a mile snd a half from the ocean. John can't wait to be captain of his sailboat.

As you know i've had a rough couple of years with the 3 back surgeries, The last (fusion of L4&L5) has worked and the leg pain is gone. I am still weaning off of the Fentanyl Patch (halfway there) and in physical therapy. I still have some new problems to deal with like carpal tunnel in both hands and some new upper spine issues but am working them out. Nothing keeps me down for long. I have a lot yet to do and trips to plan and people to see, Looking forward to being with some B2 members on our Wine Cruise in October.

let us know when you are coming our way again so we can get together.

Your stats are amazing. I wondered about the longevity of the commenters when I posted this link.

#6 Sonja Thompson is the AR member who invited me to join. She still earns 10% of my points so she is second in Erie county & city even though she has not been active for over a year.
