The weekend is upon us...it's time to have some fun!Woman with a Home near Peterson AFB Excited about the weekend!

Done with your week and trying to figure out how to spend your weekend in Colorado Springs?  Here are 5 things you can do this Saturday and Sunday if you have a home near Peterson AFB.

1.  Go see an IMAX movie

With Cinemark theaters located so conveniently, you can take yourself out to see a movie...on a screen several stories high!  It's a pretty amazing theater.  I saw 300 there when it came out.  Checkout the current offerings Here.

2.  Take a Beer Tour at Rockbottom Brewery or Old Chicago's

Colorado is definitely a beer-kinda state.  We host the Great American Beer Festival every year, so you know there's gonna be some good brew on tap around town.  Take Rockbottom's Beer tour for local flavors and Old Chicago's tastings for a more worldly flair.  Either way, you can't go wrong.

3.  Make it a BBQ Night

Being a Texas native, I'm admittedly picky about BBQ.  That being said, you Powers Corridor Dwellers have 2 great BBQ joints to choose from.  The first is a local dive call Bird Dog BBQ.  They've got the best brisket in town...and their BBQ sauce is simply amazing.  It's great for a quick sit down or carry out.  The other place is Texas Roadhouse.  They're more of a sit-down restaurant.  The place is a lot of fun, with an active wait staff that's always full of pep.  It happens to double as a nice place to meet friends or mingle at the bar.  Word of warning...get there early or prepare to wait.  It's a popular place.

4.  Checkout a SkySox Game

We have our very own Triple A Ball Club here in town.  And it's a direct feeder for the Rockies.  In fact, Matt Holiday was here a few months ago rehabbing from an injury.  The field is smack dab in the middle of Powers, just south of Barnes.  It's a great family atmosphere and they even have fireworks after the evening games.  Grab yourself a Coke and some Dogs and enjoy an afternoon at the ballpark.

5.  Bumper Cars, Video Games, Pizza and More at ITZ

This place opened up in 2007 and has already been voted a "Best Of" for Colorado Springs in 2008.  It's got bumper cars, miniature bowling, ticket-giving games, an all-you-can-eat buffet and more.  If you're looking for some indoor action-and-adventure, ITZ the place to go.

You've got a few ideas to make the most of your weekend.  Now get out there and enjoy it!
