Cleaning a DSLR Sensor?

By

I have some spots on my sensor screen of my D50. I tired blowing them off with a nasal aspirator but it didn't work. A local camera shop said they could send it off for cleaning at a cost of $65.00

I read on a photography discussion board of some stories of sending cameras off for cleaning only to have them come back even worse off. This site had an article about cleaning it yourself using a cleaning solution and a brush that are designed for cleaning sensors from Visible Dust.

Has anyone on here ever cleaned their own?

I have heard good stories and bad ones about both ways.  I guess thats why some of the newer cameras are self cleaning.  One would think if you have a reputable camera shop it would come back in good shape.
