ANWR! Give me some Oil, Gas Prices are Killing Me!

FIRST. Do you know what ANWR is?

ANWR = Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

..

Now. A comparison

And some perspective.

NOTE WHERE THE PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT AREA IS.
(it's in the "ANWR Coastal Plain")

THIS IS WHAT THE  "GREENS" SHOW YOU WHEN THEY TALK ABOUT ANWR
.and they are right. these ARE photographs of ANWR

ISN'T ANWR BEAUTIFUL? WHY SHOULD WE DRILL HERE (AND DESTROY) THIS BEAUTIFUL PLACE?
.

WELL. THAT'S NOT EXACTLY THE TRUTH

Do you remember the map?

The map showed that the proposed drilling area is in the ANWR Coastal Plain

Do those photographs look like a coastal plain to you?

WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?
.

.

THE ANSWER IS SIMPLE.

THAT IS NOT WHERE THEY ARE WANTING TO DRILL!

THIS IS WHAT THE PROPOSED EXPLORATION AREA ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE IN THE WINTER

AND THIS IS WHAT IT ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE IN THE SUMMER

HERE ARE A COUPLE SCREEN SHOTS FROM GOOGLE EARTH

AS YOU CAN SEE, THE AREA WHERE THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT DRILLING IS A BARREN WASTELAND.

OH. AND THEY SAY THAT THEY ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE EFFECT ON THE LOCAL WILDLIFE.

HERE IS A PHOTO (SHOT DURING THE SUMMER) OF THE
"DEPLETED WILDLIFE" SITUATION CREATED BY DRILLING AROUND PRUDHOE BAY*.
DON'T YOU THINK THAT THE CARIBOU REALLY HATE THAT DRILLING?

HERE'S THAT SAME SPOT DURING THE WINTER.

HEY, THIS BEAR SEEMS TO REALLY HATE THE PIPELINE NEAR PRUDHOE BAY*.

*The Prudhoe bay area accounts for 17% of U.S. domestic oil production

Am I missing something?  There don't appear to be any photos.

Plus, one man's "barren wasteland" is another man's "beautiful wilderness".

Joni Mitchell comes firmly to mind:  "Don't it always seem to go, you don't know what you've lost til it's gone, we paved paradise, put up a parking lot."

Here's snopes' take on this.

Hi Janie, even though your pictures did not show up I've seen them before and I'd like to challenge any "Green-neck" to spend any time in this "beautiful wilderness". The other thing that comes to mind is the same crowd who doesn't want drilling say there is not enough oil there and it would take ten years to get. Well if we would have started drilling when it was first proposed we would be enjoying that oil NOW. The same crowd made a big fuss that we should be tapping into the oil reserves, guess what, the oil reserves hold a tiny fraction of the oil that ANWR holds. Funny how ANWR is not enough oil yet it's far greater then the amount they want released.

I firmly believe the very top of the Environmentalists are not at all concerned with the environment but are bent on destroying the USA by weakening it and making it dependent on foreign nations. With a cause that sounds so noble "Save the Earth" they have found many scientifically and/or spiritually week minded individuals to carry their banner and make it their religion. No matter what your faith is, how week is your God if man can thwart his plans and destroy his creation? The God I believe in is all powerful and scoffs at man's belief that man could change or harm his plan in any way. What vanity to think the light bulb you use or car you drive will destroy God's creation. (Hello religion police, notice I made no reference as to what my faith is, whether your god is Mohammad, Buddha, Jewish, Christian, or Nancy Pollocy I assume you believe your god is all powerful as I believe my God is.)

Sorry the pictures didn't show up, I'll see if I can get that fixed tomorrow.  Thanks so much for your comments.

What are we to do?  And yes I believe God is all powerful
