Life can not get much better than relaxing with family, on a Sunday summer afternoon at local Moraine State Park, located in our neighboring Butler County.
The park is located just 11 miles from our hometown of New Castle, Pa . in Lawrence County.
Lake Arthur is in Moraine State Park and is 50 miles north of Pittsburgh in northwestern Pennsylvania., along PA RT 422 near the crossroads of 1-80 AND 1-79
Family picnics, fishing, watching the sail boats, walk the many walking trails, swim, bicycle the paths and just enjoy each others company, there is something to do for everyone...for the young and the young at heart
I spent the afternoon, a few Sundays back driving through the park. It just brought back all the fun family gatherings we enjoyed every week end. at Moraine. It sure was my favorite summer place to be.
Our last time together at the park as a family was a special event .It was my daughter's baby shower, held at the park, at an open picnic shelter......What a great day!
My recent visit, I snapped this picture of this proud little guy. He was so excited over his big catch. The kids really enjoy fishing and always seem to end up with their trophy fish.
The park is open daily from 7 AM to sunset. We would go out very early in the morning on Saturday and the aroma of bacon and eggs just permeated the air..... breakfast at the lake... a nice way to start the day.
Thousands of people visit the 3,225-acre Lake Arthur yet not many realize that many people were involved in restoring the park from prior coal mining and oil drilling practices. Today, the park is an outstanding example of environmental engineering achievement. It is a scene of gently rolling hills, lush forrest and sparkling waters
On a note of interest... The regatta at Lake Arthur is scheduled for August 2 and 3 2008
I can't wait to attend this grand event!
The United States Department of the Interior awarded this event the " 2007 Take Pride in America" certificate
in appreciation in furthering the Goals and Mission of " Take Pride In America"
This certainly says a lot about the organizers of this two day event.
