Can't We All Just Get Along? The realationship between Appraisers & Realtors

As an appraiser there has been more then one time when I have had to enlist the help of a Realtor to get comp info for a report.  More then 1 time I have been hung up on by a Realtor on or not received a call back from a realtor.  As an appraiser sometimes I feel it is necessary to double check my findings on a particular neighborhood/area with a Realtor.  When I am working on a multi-family order I as an appraiser must include rental information in the report.  It has been my experience that said information may be found in 1 of 2 places: 1) the MLS (not everyone puts rental info on their listing) & 2) A Realtor who works in the area.  Again it has been my experience that the local Realtor is reluctant to help out at best.  I understand it may take up a few minutes of your time to help out an appraiser  but we as appraisers are willing to help out when you the Realtor calls up and wants comps for a listing or possible sale that you have.  We are all real estate professionals here.  We should all be helping each other out when necessary.  After all your sale will not be complete with out an appraisal and we appraisers would not have muchto appraiser with out you Realtors out there making sales.  Can't We All Just Get Along and help each other out?  In the future when an appraiser calls you for help remember we are all on the same team.  For all you appraisers out there, the next time a Realtor calls you for comps, help out, who knows you might need some info from them in the future.
