Know Your Pet's Woobie

Mr. Mom is a movie that stays with you.  Remember Kenny and his woobie?  That beat up old blanket he carried around?

Every one needs a woobie. Every one of our five cats have their own distinct woobies.  That one toy, bed, or blanket that they uniquely love. It's their "happy place".  The one thing that can bring instant emotional relief.

One of the most notable, and longest standing woobies in the house is the yellow rain jacket.  It's Rudy's woobie.  He loves this thing.  If he's seen it recently, hung up to dry, he'll sit in front of it, staring up and cry.  You lay it out on the ground and he'll jump around, loving the sound of his paws on the slick material.  That inevitably leads to Rudy chasing his tail. And eventually, he tires out and falls asleep on his woobie.

If Rudy has been moping around the house, all I need to do is grab his woobie out of the closet (maybe he hasn't seen it in action for a while) and lay it on the ground. He'll come running...that excitement back in his step.

Know your pet's woobie and use them to ease stressful situations.  From moving day to a trip to the vet.  A woobie can make all the difference.

Chris Ann, I feel so much like Linus in Peanuts. Do you have my blanket? Is it in your closet? I think I'll go suck my thumb!

Gary:  I am not even ashamed to say that I still sleep with a stuffed animal.  My husband bought it for me when we started dating.  That thing is soooo nappy now.  But I love it.

Gary,

You don't look like a thumbsucker to me. LOL.

My pets have their little fetishes also. Aren't they crazy and fun?

Chris Ann:  My Mollie T's woobie is the crumpled up clothing in the laundry basket waiting to be washed and sitting on top of the clothes dryer.  In fact... six years ago when I adopted Mollie from a closed seller of mine... that is where the seller and I found her on adoption day... all curled up in the laundry basket on top of the dryer.  Thanks for sharing such a cool story.  I read it to Mollie T... and she loved it too.  :)

Ya know, Chris Ann.  Maybe that is exactly what I need... my very own woobie !  In fact... now that I think about it... I am sure of it.

Trey:  I notice that some things go in and out of style with them.  And now with five, something that was old news to my older two, is like a brand new toy for my younger three.

Karen Anne:   My Minx loves the clean laundry, fresh out of the dryer.  Rudy can go for a pile of dirty laundry any day of the week.  It's just fun to watch them find their woobies and make them their own.  I have one, Shadow (ought to be named Dennis the Menace) that loves the pot holders we leave on the counter.  He routinely jumps up, knocks them on the ground, and cuddles up for a nap.

I'm sure you read about my bedtime woobie....the stuffed dog my husband gave me when we first started dating.  His name is B.O. Doggy.  The abbreviation means just what you think it means.  I shove him right up under my arm when I sleep at night.  My loving husband gave him the name.   I promise, B.O. Doggy is not stinky like his name suggests.

Chris Ann:  I see you have now pretty much bared your soul with us, and shared your beloved B.O. Doggy.  What a cute lil guy he is.  Your comment above mentions reading about your bedtime woobie.  Is that only in this post, or is there a previous post where you share more about B.O.

And... perhaps you might be in the market for an agent to help you market your Kitty book... complete with woobies, and all the other kitty stories you can recall.  There are an awful lot of kitty lovers out here.  :)

Karen Anne:  You are hired...if I ever get around to writing that book.  No doubt it will be full of photos.  As for B.O. Doggy, I never mentioned him until my response to Gary on this post.  Even then, I didn't give out his name.

Chris Ann:  This is funny.  I just got the email that you updated your post.  I clicked on it, read it, and thought... gee... that's what I myself need... a Woobie.  So, I started scrolling down to the comment box, and came across my OWN comment two years ago... where I said the same thing.  I am at least consistent... and I am also... still very much in need of my own Woobie.  Darn !                                                          June 4, 2010

I have seen some posts on Active Rain where some of the Rainers took someone's advice... and went through some of their OLDER posts... and deleted them.  They were then surprised to find that their points total had dropped drastically as a result.  So, I'm glad you are only "updating" them... if points are an issue.

Also... whevever I comment on the post of one of my favorite bloggers... I usually check the box that emails me when a comment or an update has been made.  That is why I have commented occasionally when you have updated some of your posts... just an FYI here.
