Brentwood Schools - some want the best for their children

Brentwood tn Real Estate - I get this question all the time, especially from out of state clients. Where is the best school, and where can I live for my children to attend.

The answer to the first question is easy, for years, Brentwood high school has had the best ACT scores of all public schools in middle Tennessee. Some will say that the magnet schools in Nashville have better average scores, and that would be true. But  they don't  accept anyone who doesn't already have a high achievement score, so it's not a level playing field.

Is it really that much of a difference? Yes

In 2007, the average SAT score for the state of Tennessee schools was 20.7

The average SAT score in Davidson county schools was 19.2

The average SAT score for Williamson county schools was 22.4

The average SAT score for Brentwood high school was 24.8

The graduation rate of Brentwood High School is 98.4 percent

Princeton HillsBrentwood high school test scores average is 11 percent higher than the Williamson county average, 29 percent higher than the Nashville average, and 20 percent higher than the state average.

The school with the closest ACT test score average is Ravenwood High School with an average of 23.8 (a 4 percent difference).

For those of you who are paying the higher taxes in Nashville, know that  more money is spent per child ($9300) per year in Davidson county to achieve a test score average that is 17 percent lower than Williamson county($7504), a cost difference of 24 percent.

The next time you hear a politician talk about raising taxes for schools, be aware that the taxes in Brentwood have not been raised in over 10 years, and they have the best schools in the area, and the gap between Brentwood and Nashville schools seems to be getting larger. Hi Larry, I think it's amazing that Brentwood hasn't raised their school tax in ten years and it's the highest performing district. It just proves that throwing money at a poor performing school is not the answer. Dedicated teachers who love to teach make all the difference. And..besides that..Brentwood is one gorgeous place to live!

Larry, great information on Brentwood Schools, my friends kids graduated from there. No taxes in 10 years speaks volumns. Maybe it is all those high prices homes, or are the homes attached to the property taxes there? They use to be in MI but changed that 10 years ago to equalize everything out, but it didn't.

Larry, and of course you can not go to Magnet schools if you don't live in Davidson county. But, if you live in that part of Brentwood mailing address, Davidson County line, that is sort of no mans land (to the left of Old Hickory traveling east of I65), is one districted to go to Brentwood High?....just curious?

Bo - You are not in No-Mans land if you are in Davidson county. To everyone but the mailman, you are in Nashville. You pay Nashville taxes, you get Nashville Schools, and you get Nashville utility service. That's why the prices of homes change big time when you cross that county line.

Linda - I can't really express how much of a difference the Brentwood schools are compared to Nashville schools. It's like night and day.

Missy - I think you need to move back to Tennessee. You would love Brentwood, and we have a great Keller Williams office in Cool Springs,
