Sunday/What did you do to relax yesterday?

By
Education & Training with Alan Kells School of Real Estate/Howard Hanna Real Estate

Yesterday I wrote about Sunday as a day of rest and how hard it is for most Realtors to find time for themselves.  Several people commented about how difficult it is in this business to take a day off.  One comment said, maybe next year I'll find time to take day off.

Well how did you spend your Sunday?  Did you find a little bit ot time for yourself and your family?

We need to take a break now and then, or the stress becomes too much!  Yesterday I spent the day with my sister, brother in law, their kids, and some friends at the lake.

Tom, Happy belated Birthday.  I am glad that you took the day off.  Gradually I learned in this business the lesson Christina mentioned in her comment after yours "the stress becomes too much" and some people get out of our business for that reason.

Guess today is back to work.

Hi Mary - thanks for adding me as an Associate!  :-)  Do you know that about 15 years ago (*I've been in Real Estate for 20)........after working crazy insane hrs and wknds with three toddlers under 5 - I made a decision not to work wknds unless absolutely necessary and to limit my evenings t o2 nights a week.............and I did!  Now my kids are 23,20, and 16........now I take on wknds and evenings......because I want to......but I do think we have a choice........we have a schedule/daytimer/blackberry and we just block off those family/me times and tell our clients we're booked then.........its true........and it works.:-)

Liz,

You are so right!!!  Yes, the Blackberry/daytimer says it all when we say we are booked.  Maybe we are booked with family or a good book..Guess that will be my next blog topic.

Have a good day.

Put 40 years of experience to work for you

Oh, you don't really want to know. I, too, rested, in my own weird way. First, I gave eight baseboards two coats of paint, Then I pulled a few boards off the wall to inspect the interior and nailed them back. I moved every dish, pot, pan, spice, canned goods and so forth out of my kitchen, carrying each in stacks to their respective boxes in the living room (because a full box was too heavy to lift). I set up my essentials for my week-long bachelorette kit in the dining room. I removed trim pieces around my doorways and painted those, too. Then, just for a bit of excitement, I mudded some holes in my kitchen ceiling. Unpacked my new stove to admire its stainless manli-ness and carted off the cardboard container, which I ended up shredding to pieces to get the box open. Talked with a few clients, but mostly kept a low profile.

Elizabeth,

That is what I like to do sometimes, just get lost in a project that requires lots of physical exertion and little mental...

Hope today is going well.
