Saw one of the "snapshots" that USAToday includes on the lower left of the sections of their paper that applied to us here in Austin/Round Rock - it was a list of the top 5 cities with the lowest percentage of homes purchased in 2007 that are now worth less than is owed on them - Austin/Round Rock was 5th on the list at 16%. In other words, only 16% of homes purchased in 2007 in the Austin/Round Rock area are now worth less than the sales price paid last year. Not great if you're in that 16 percent - but the rest of the country is worse. Homes are still appreciating slightly or holding steady here.
