The Inspector's Role (reposted)

Home Inspector with Comprehensive Building Inspections & Consultants

I am "brand new" to Activerain. I recently posted this blog, which I believe is  relevant to another active blog regarding "Deal Killers". My reason for reposting is that I do not know if was posted in the proper place and thought it might be of interest.

The Inspector's Role

For most of us, even the most real estate savvy, the decision to purchase a home and the selection of the home itself are probably some of the biggest and most important decisions we have the option to make. Most people are not construction experts, and even those that are... are not experts at inspecting buildings.

So much goes into inspecting a home, there are so many things to look at, there are so many clues to find.

It is the role of the Home Inspector to study and report on a building in a way that only an inspector can. Whether it be the exterior or the interior, the basement to the attic, structural, mechanical, or environmental, it is the duty of an inspector to provide his client with a complete, easy to read, non biased and honest report. It it the duty of the inspector to provide their client with the information necessary to make an educated decision when purchasing a home.

Since no building is perfect, it is important that an inspector not be an "alarmist", but rather an "informist" and should be capable of presenting his findings in a way that is commensurate with it's priority.
