Addicted to boating? Georgetown and Horry county South Carolina are boater's paradise! Every time we go boating we are in awe of what we see. Sunday we went out to the harbor entrance and no one else was around! We spent the day shelling and grazing, grazing and lazing. The ocean breezes were wonderful! On the way back we saw at least 20 dolphin feeding up river and eagles soaring overhead on Winyah Bay!
The pelicans are always in strict formation and skimming the top of the water with such precision! What a cool way to spend the day! Some days we just head to the middle of the river or bay and just drift! Every waterway is different. The Black River is inky dark with the acid from the Cypress Trees. The PeeDee is lined with beautiful old plantation homes and huge live oak trees dripping with Spanish Moss.
The Grand Strand runs along the northern coast of South Carolina and consissts of 60 miles of sandy beach and grassy dunes. Some days we won't see a sole! We love running the dogs just as much as they love the beach! Winyah Bay is pristine and wide open.
Waccamaw River also the Intracoastal Waterway, is a great way to get to lunch or other friendly boaters! The creeks and nooks and crannies are spectacular and chock full of birds and wildlife! Near extinct birds are seen soaring over head! We had a Kite tail give us a grand show one day as he followed us all the way up creek!
There are lots of secreted sandy beaches to cool off and relax in such grand solitude! Other more popular yet off the beaten track beaches are a great place to meet and play!
