House passes Mortgage Rescue Bill

Today the House passed a mortgage rescue Bill that could offer as much as 300 billion in mortgage assistance to troubled homeowners. There is alot of details that are yet to be unfolded but President Bush is expected to sign it after it gets through the Senate. There will be some tax relief for First time home buyers which is the part I like. This will obviously help stop thousands from foreclosing which is great news. The bad news is someone has to pay for all of this and hmm... who do you think that will be?

This is something I was anticipating might happen as thousands of homeowners cannot refinance because they have no equity or in some cases are under water due to plummetting values. The FHA may still end up allowing borrowers to refinance if the current lender will write down some of the debt to slightly below current values. Have a great day,

I still am not sold on the government bail out.  In the end, those who do not benefit will be those who pay this bill.

that is true the tax payers ( us ) will have to pay some of the bills on this. Truly there is no real good all around solution.

This bill has a provision that will eliminate the DPA ( Down Payment Assistance) within the FHA.  Unless they remove this, this bill will hurt home sales.

Of course this bill is no good because it promises more money for these troubled companies at the expense of tax payers.

true tax payers will pay for it but it is likely with a new president taxes are going up anyways.

I don't think the down payment assistance program will totally go away I think they will modify it so loan fraud does not happen anymore by raising the price of a property to cover the difference.
