Mortgage Suicide:

By

How very sad---I just heard on CNN about a woman who committed suicide hours before the bank foreclosed on her home.

My heart goes out to this woman’s family—the report said that the bank did stop the foreclosures---my goodness what is this world coming to—are we going to see more of this—I certainly hope not!

Let’s all take a moment of silence and say a prayer for this family!

I wish I knew more information but this woman and her family, the news went by so quickly---I think the family is some where in the East Coast.

Does anyone know about this family? I would like to know more details.

This happened yesterday in Taunton, and the bank DID stop the foreclosure unbeknownst to the homeowers and would be buyers.

I wrote a small blog on it yesterday

Hi Aida,  We seem so caught up in the statistics and mechanics of this shaky market that we forget that behind every sad story is a real family going through this mifgtmare !

Aida,  This is a sad situation.  Some people just can't handle rough financial times.  I have seen it before.  Just sad.

Aida,

This is really tough for me to blog about or speak about. I have helped a few sellers do short sales, have even gave them my ear if  a short sale wasn't feasible.  I didn't know this family, but wished that I had.  I wept over this, and I do get why the woman did what she did.  She just couldn't do it anymore, she wasn't crazy, she was just trying to protect her family.

The other thing is capitializing on this in any way doesn't sit well with me. All my AR comment points are used for the day

Hi Lori--I can imaginehow tough this is for you since it is in your neighborhood--When I heard this earlier this afternoon--I was so moved that I wanted to make sure that others here knew about it!  I was saddened and I am stright across the nation--in California.  Foreclosure is hitting really hard but I didn't think that things would get to this point!   I hope that this story is not buried--the public needs to know about this, maybe there will be folks nearby that can give moral support to this family.

Please keep us updated if you know of any new developments on how this family is coping!

A short sale is not always the best answer for a client.  If this poor women had reached out to her lender and asked for a loan modification, she probably would have gotten one.  The banks don't want to foreclose especially in this climate. If they have to take a short term loss to keep the property maintained until the market rebounds they will.
