What makes..."America's Most Wanted Realtor?"

It is amazing what you will hear at your favorite dining establishment, even when you don't intend to.

A few evenings ago, my husband and I witnessed a very animated discussion in our favorite seaside restaurant.  Two ladies were sitting at the table next to us. Their conversation started out about home prices and then quickly moved to individual Realtors.  I'm not sure what these two ladies were drinking, but their conversation started getting pretty loud, so I couldn't help but overhear.

"What is it you have to do these days to find "America's Most Wanted Realtor"?  asked the one with martini type glass.

I've been interviewing Realtors since last month and not one of them knows what they are talking about or has any personality!"  I'm lookin' for the best and the brightest and here's what I get for my trouble....

One that can spit out numbers, facts and statistics like a typewriter on speed, but doesn't know squat about how to be polite....now what does that say?

Another one that is dressed to the nines! Even hosiery in this blasted heat, but had a handshake like a dead "Red Tide" fish. Eeeauuk!   Not the confidence I am looking for!

One that came in smelling like he just rolled out of Burger King's deep fryer in yesterday's clothes..........Buyers would RUN! Smellin' like an onion ring, he was!

Another told me my house was worth about 40 grand more than my neighbor got yesterday...sight unseen! Now how can you price a house you have never seen?

One that drives such a fancy car that he must be a snake to do so well in this market and another that didn't even bring a pen and a pad to his appointment with me. Didn't ask me any questions, just started talking about his commission and not reducing it!

What have I got to do to find someone who really cares about doing what is best for me? What!?!

My husband....always right on que said "Turn around".......and they did!!! With a blush on my face redder than the wine in my glass, I introduced myself.....

Although I will be helping these ladies out the question still remains..............

Well Louann there's wanted and there's "wanted!"  I know many of the latter.  Since perceptions are just that and subjective, a lot of it would depend upon the DISC personality of the seller.  I'll give you the eau de Burger King might be an absolute, but other than that, one seller might respond to a warm and caring personality (with a strong handshake), while another might see that as weakness.

I think another interesting thread would be "What makes . . . "America's Most Wanted Seller?"

That's a great story!  My husband gets mad at me for listening to other people's conversations.  He'll be talking and I'll start to chuckle and he'll be like, what's funny, and I'm like, didn't you hear what they just said?  I can listen to both conversations at the same time, but he thinks I'm not paying attention to him and it's being nosey... I'll have to tell him this story so maybe I can pick up a new client!

There are so many Realtors walking around and a lot of them doing very well. So I think that for every seller there is a right realtor. They have to match, click. And feel comfortable with each other and build a trusting business relationship. It's the same as with meeting new people, sometimes you can tell that you will become good friends  right away, but sometimes you can just sense DNA missmatch when you just don't really like the person, but don't know why. I think the same DNA rule applies to sellers and buyers too.
