In my office we have weekly meetings to keep everyone focused and on point. We have each recently taken on relevant topics to present to the rest of the group. My topic presentation is Negotiation. I chose this topic because as a new agent I felt I could learn the most from reasearching this subject. What I have learned is that this topic is overwhelming!! Just type in negotiations on google and you'll see what I mean!
I have decided to do an overview of basic negotiation strategies including general negotiation tips and tatics. I will also include the methods I have used in my own negotiations. For example, a letter to the home owner to humanize the person behind the dollar sign, having a contractor give estimates for repairs to lower the price, asking for more inclusions than are wanted in order to barter for the items my clients covet the most (everyone wants a hot tub)!
I hope that some of my fellow AR members can give me suggestions on anything else that is relevant to this topic. I worry that as a newer agent that I may not have been exposed to all of the most common negotiation obstacles and situations. I am hoping for a fresh perspective to point me in the right direction, it is one of those subjects where it seems the more you learn the more you realize how much there is left to learn!! Thanks in advance for any suggestions!! Mo Kane
