GRATITUDE: The Relationship Nurturer

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Buyers' Choice Realty

Gratitude is so extraordinarily important in ANY relationship.   Showing your appreciation goes a long way...  Just leaving a card on the table with a heartfelt message of appreciation goes a long way.  I use this a lot with all my relationships.  I leave my assistant an appreciation card with a nice bonus; I do the same for my agents.  My kids get them too.

Spontaneous notes of affection and appreciation, along with simple, sweet gifts, go a very long way....  Most keep those cards forever.  They are THAT important!  I once found my son's stash of appreciation cards I had given him.  They were in the box with his most treasured possessions...

By the way, the gifts can be so simple and most of all very personal: a cute little teddy bear (my ex boyfriend still has that on his desk), a framed picture of the two of you together taken on a magical evening, a lovely flower (yes, one!).

Appreciation cards work especially well when the other person needs a "pick-me upper".  They are magical at any time, of course, but they are extremely potent when the other person is not at their best.  It tells them:  "I know who you are and I appreciate you!"

Showing gratitude and appreciation can be done in so many different ways: from surprising your loved ones with a special dinner in the middle of the week, to flowers sent at the office for absolutely no reason other than to say "I love you!", to little love notes left in a coat pocket.  Go ahead, while this is still fresh, write someone who deserves it an appreciation note right now!  You will be much surprised by the effects of this spontaneous show of affection!

LIFE'S SHORT...  LIVE IT WELL!

I just sent my attorney an appreciation card yesterday.  He is going through some hard times right now (his wife has cancer), and he is doing such a good job of "keeping his chin up", and being professional, in spite of this adversity.  I wanted him to know that I notice, and that he is appreciated and has my support.  In a sea of bills and demands, I know that my appreciation card will go a long way to help sustain him...  Never underestimate the power you have to make a difference...

You can never receive or give too much love or gratitude. Humans need contact that is positive and loving. Our world has become a difficult and trying place. I say reach out to someone every day with a positive thought or compliment. It will make YOU feel good as well. Let those around you know that you appreciate them. Thanks for this lovely reminder. Have a fabulous day & go sell something!

;)

Sincerely,

Betina

I like this one:  after a shower ---- 'write' on the mirror with your finger  'i love you' (or something a little more personal)......then when he takes his shower your message will appear!  always a nice surprise :)

Have a great weekend, Mirela - - - and.... I'll make it to one of our group 'meetings' one of these times

Kara:  What a lovely idea!  Thank you!

Betina:  Your comment is so lovely!  Thank you very much!

I have had several new deals this week and I garnered an amazing opportunity with a local bank to represent them on a string of "distressed properties" (short sales, foreclosures and REO's). I am getting two listings AND two offers today.  Life is good!

Hi Mirela,

What a great post!  Thank you for the reminder that we should all have an attitude of gratitude.  Now you've inspired me to send out some appreciation cards TODAY.  I've been thinking about it, but somehow life gets so busy that the cards never get sent.

Thanks for your post.  What an inspirational message.  I just wrote a thank you note to someone I wouldn't have done so without reading your post.  This is a message that we all need to hear and head regularly.  Thanks.

Vicki and "Not Yet Licensed":  Thank you for telling me that!  It made me very happy!

There is so much "negative enforcement" in our daily lives, that it makes "the positive enforcement" that much more potent.  I've raised two very joyous and successful kids by employing that method (positive enforcement).  I deal with the negative, but it's quick and to the point.  The positive I just re-iterate and dwell on again and again...

Thank you for doing that yesterday!  I bet you felt better for actually taking the time and writing the notes!

Hi Mirela, I love seeing the positive and caring qualities of life begin to seap into my consciousness. I am striving to remove the reactionary, negative first response from my life. Please consider Randy Pausch the Carnegie Mellon professor and Susan Hanshaw as great examples of inspiring life change. Well done!

Dean:  Lord, have mercy: you're too good to be true!  I just checked out your posts and they are AWESOME!!!  Wow!  I feel like i just hit the mother Lode!  I can't wait to go back and savor every morsel!  You, my dear Dean, are looking at your newest subscriber!

As for Randy Pausch:  I've been following everything about him and his family since that lecture.  I just bought the book this week and I am excited about reading it.  I will check out Susan.  Thank you for your contribution here!

I love the way you put it:  "I love seeing the positive and caring qualities of life begin to seep into my consciousness. I am striving to remove the reactionary, negative first response from my life."

Susan's work looks WONDERFUL!  I am ordering one of the books.  Why don't you post a blog about Susan's work?  I know many of our members will be very interested.

I will be hosting a live chat every Tuesday evening at 9pm EST, starting in August (Please see Arina's blog on AR Chatting).   Do you think Susan would be interested in hosting a live chat with me?  My subject is "Lifestyle" and my mission is squeezing as much juice out of LIFE as possible.  My favorite saying is:  "Life's short; LIVE it well!"

Dean, connecting with you today is the highlight of my day!  Thank you!
