My weekend is officially off to a WONDERFUL start!
I got a call this morning from a longtime friend. She's been offered a promotion and may be relocating to another state. She's currently debating if she should rent her current home or sell it.
We chatted for almost an hour about her new position, her dilemna, and just catching us as friends do. Then near the end of the coversation she gave me the greatest compliment:
"Yesterday I called the agent I worked with when I bought this house. She basically told me to rent, but you've really explained all options, different scenarios, and the pros and cons involved with each. You've given me a lot to think about. I knew I should have called you first!"
The fact that she valued my opinion so much felt WONDERFUL!!! She explained that her initial intent for calling me was to see if I could refer a property manager (not sure why the other agent didn't), but now she's thinking that she might just let me help her sell it. She will think about it more next week while traveling on business and would like to talk further when she gets back.
It's feels great to have a person that values your opinion as a friend and professional. To
hear her say she valued my advice over the person she'd worked with before - and person with years of experience - is amazing! I wonder if the other agent truly listened to my friend's situation. If so she may have realized that renting may not be in her best interest since she wants to buy a new home after relocating. Instead of making the decision for her I gave her every possible scenario and left it her to think about what's best for her in the long run.
A few hours later I got a call from someone relocating to the area. How did they find me? Active Rain!
Does this have the potential of being a very good weekend? Am I glad I've been taking the time to learn from other AR members, blog, and comment?
