Just b/c we are a card carrying (fill in the blank) doesn't mean we need to be everywhere all the time. The following caught my attention and IMHO is worth learning from:
The Department of Water Resources Representative stops at a ranch and talks with an old rancher. He tells the man, I need to
inspect your property for your water allocation.
The old rancher says, "Okay, but don' t go in that field over there".
The Water Rep. says, "Mister, I have the authority of the
Federal Government with me.. SEE THIS CARD? This card means I am
allowed to go WHEREVER I WISH on any agricultural land. No questions
asked or answered. Have I made myself clear? Do you understand??"
The old rancher nods politely and goes about his chores.
Later, the old rancher hears loud screams and sees the Water Rep
running for his life and close behind is a huge Brahman bull.
The bull is gaining with every step.
The Rep is clearly terrified, so the old rancher immediately throws
down his tools, runs to the fence and yells at the top of his lungs.....
'YOUR CARD,-- SHOW -HIM --YOUR --C A R D !!!"
Interpret this as you wish, my guess is: No BULL- NO PROBLEMS, we need to be aware of our surroundings. There are a lot of bulls out there- are you one of them? Are you the Rancher who only gave warning w/o explanation. Are you the Card-Carrier who proceeds with paper and not intellect? Are you the story teller- who hears, applies and shares a bit of wisdom?
I raise my hand to the later. When told DON'T- I ask why?-- then decide if why-not is appropriate.
Have a great day- cheryl (no bull) willis
