I am a big believer that positive energy and positive thoughts breeds positve outcomes. I remember reading a sales book when I was a stockbroker (read many of them) where the secret was "You become what you think about" .
As part of that, it is critical to surround yourself with successful people who share the same mindset and are positive. Do you ever notice in any office the group of people that are complaining about the market, the buyers, the sellers, and everything else ? Typically this group of people will not be your top producers and they will exist in any office in every profession. This gets back to the 80 / 20 rule where 20 percent of the salespeople will do 80 percent of the business.
Thus, it is important to surround yourself only with the 20 percent ! That positive energy and success momentum is contagious ! When I first started as a realtor about 5 years ago, I quickly realized who the top producers were. When I had a question, I only went to them. I was also cognizant of their time and did not go too much. It was extremely benefecial to me to improve my skills right off the bat. A good example would be if you are trying to improve your tennis game or golf game, it is always better to practice and play with people that are better than you are. That is how you improve ! Do you ever notice that your performance goes down when it is the opposite ?
So moving foward into the fall and next year, think about the relationships (work, friends) that you want to associate with. It is a good opportunity to raise the paradigm level and challenge ourselves to strive to the next level.
For today and tomorrow, I choose to associate myself with positive people and at work to surround myself with the top producers and make myself available to my team and other realtors with positve energy that are climbing the ladder.
