The NEW Localism top neighbor
Has this always been there -the "How does this work?" (what is it two three weeks since the NEW Localism was introduced?) and I just never noticed it? This link goes to Ohio Localism where I AM NOT the top neighbor! I am sure your state has the same message about Top Neighbor. That's Don Rogers from Missouri. Link to his ActiveRain blog below...
"Legacy" content is also considered when ranking top neighbors. We don't want to leave the early adopters of Localism in the cold, and we're working hard to process that backlog.
What doesn't count toward the top neighbor ranking? ActiveRain points and community sponsorships. The top neighbor spots will always go to the most active members in a region. We want to create a level playing field that encourages the growth of communities — talent and dedication are required to win the day."
"Won't you please...
Won't you please, please won't you be my neighbor...?"
Is that how the song goes?
"ActiveRain "effectively castrated the point system"
Ouch Cyndee Haydon tried to start a conversation about points not being worth anything the other night on one of my ActiveRain posts....
"with the new localism didn't AR effectively castrate the point system"
ouch, ouch, ouch... castrate is such an evocative word... even if I am not a man... Visit the post for the exchange... It is about ActiveRain removing points for comments. I think Cyndee's point is ActiveRain points aren't worth what they used to be... someone remind me again what they used to be worth... Nothing. I am not sure whether I was just in the mood to NOT talk about Localism Sunday night or if I did not understand what Cyndee meant. Sorry.
Cyndee is right ActiveRain points don't guarantee you being Top Neighbor but I am counting on the ActiveRain to get caught up on the backlog... and I need to post some stuff... I mean quality content to ActiveRain if I want to wear a cardigan in Ohio, Franklin County, Columbus, Worthington etc... my neighborhoods
We pass the cardigan (this is a reference to Mr. Rodgers if you are not getting this)... we pass the cardigan along... hopefull freshly laundered between wearings...
That is one of Mr. Rogers sweaters in the Smithsonian (see photo credit below.) A zipper? I like my Mr. Roger's sweaters with buttons... I am a traditionalist when it comes to old men in cardigans. Were zippered cardigans the 80's or the 90's? I am more of a 1970's (ooooh maybe even 60's Mr. Rogers fan. ) I actually am more Romper Room, Captain Kangaroo vintage but don't tell anyone.
Back to Localism.com That makes sense to me... the person who is contributing should be top neighbor... it takes fresh content to keep people reading. I have not contributed much to Localism at all in the past 6 months or so, although I was an early adopter so I am not there although I have ActiveRain points coming out of my... ears. ActiveRain is working on the back log. And I posted content to the NEW Localism this morning.. and Mr. Rogers stopped by. Not the ghost of Fred Rogers... Don Rogers from Missouri was in my neighborhood on ActiveRain / Localism this morning.
Does ActiveRain How does this work? Do I have to pay to be a top neighbor? explaination make it easier to understand about the points, ActiveRain, Localism who gets to wear the sweater for you?
It does for me.
