Thousand Oaks is located in beautiful Ventura County, with miles of coastline and the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. The City is only 45 miles from downtown Los Angeles and about an hour from Santa Barbara. Fun places like Disneyland, Universal Studios, Knotts Berry Farm, Six Flags Magic Mountain, and the Getty Museum are within about an hour to an hour and a half driving distance.

You can find great entertainment right in the heart of Thousand Oaks at the . You will discover wonderful restaurants, shopping, delightful gathering places, such as the Westlake Promenade and the new Lakes Shopping Center Thousand Oaks and Gardens of the World. To everyone's amazement, a pond is frozen in the winter time for ice skating at The Lakes Shopping Center, just down the street from the Civic Arts Plaza. You will notice how family oriented the community is with the beautiful public library, Thousand Oaks teen center, The Goebel Senior Citizens Center, California Lutheran University and many excellent schools. Hiking is a favorite past-time at parks such as Wildwood Park and Sycamore Canyon. There are many horse trails for the equestrians. Amgen, Inc. chose this wonderful community as it's home too.
