MY PLANS WERE DERAILED...BY A LAWNMOWER???

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Residential

Yes that's right.  A lawnmower.  A faulty lawnmower, actually.

I had three family goals for the day.

1.  Take care of my daughter, Erin.
2.  Go to YMCA with Erin to workout.
3.  Mow the lawn.

Nicole would be having a long day today.  She had a client (Nutrition for your Kids) she would be meeting with at her office in the Naperville public library.  That appointment was at 9:00 AM.  She would then have a full day at her new job at Central DuPage Hospital.

Long days for Nickie can be long days for me as well.  But not today...

I was on top of my game.

Erin was in a good mood.  We had a great morning.  No major problems.

At 10:30, we went to the library to surprise Nickie after her appointment.  I know it made Nicole feel good not going all day without seeing her little girl.

By 11:00, I have Erin in daycare at the Y.  We call it "class".  Erin likes it and I need it!  For those of you who have taken care of a chatty two year old, you know how important it is to get out of the house every day!!

Great workout.  4 miles on the treadmill.  My first run in about two weeks.  I have been doing yoga twice a week, but let the running slide.  Felt real good to sweat.  Time was 30:27.  I was beat.

I get Erin home for lunch, play, reading a book and NIGHT NIGHT.

Like I said, I am on top of my game.

Now all I have to do is the lawn and I will be complete.

It's a hot, muggy afternoon here in Naperville.  More sweating.

Three laps around the back yard and I decide to go check to see if Erin is asleep.  All is quiet.

I go back out to finish the lawn and I can't restart the mower

I have tried hammers, pliers, screwdrivers and nothing has worked (I am not very handy but I am learning).

My friend I rely on for such things is out of town until Sunday.

What to do?

Ken

I laughed when I saw your headline...I though it was a deal gone bad...and I was going to say that I could top that one! I had a deal that didn't go through because of a vacuum cleaner. That's right, a vacuum cleaner. Turns out my buyer bought a very expensive new vacuum cleaner and missed two consecutive payments that showed up on the credit pull during underwriting. Guess who's still renting?

Ken, Either have the friend teach you or buy a new mower.  I work on my own so sorry not close enough to help.

My thought was, he mows late like we do, and I do know the frustration of the nonworking mower.

This is the enterprising neighborhood kids are for.  You pay them and they mow your yard.  Oh wait do kids do that anymore?

Hi Sharon, Pat, Carol, Larry, and Vickie.  Thanks for stopping by.

No I haven't Kicked it!!!

Seems like I should be able to fix it.  I have showered and prettied up now.  I thing I will finish the lawn another day.  I have had enough frustration.

Hi Ken,

Busy days are fun and yu have had a fun day. I hpe you went back out to try the mower after it had time t cool down. I am no mechanic either, but I do remember the mower, a tempermental machine, wouldn't restart until after it cooled down. Did I ever take it in for service, NO!! I just learned to respect its mood.

Hope the balance of your day went well

Ken....it could be the gas you're using. "Gasahol" can wreak havoc on small engines--does something to the gaskets from what I hear. As of July 1, here in Oklahoma, pumps have to be clearly labeled if they are not 100% gas. 100%  gas is supposed to increase your gas mileage and if "gasahol" is bad for your mower, it can't be good for your car either. For more info go to gasbuddy.com and check the Oklahoma City message boards.

Hi Boring, Steve, and Mike.  Thanks for stopping by.

I think I know what the problem is.  Just worried if I try to fix it anymore, I will make it worse!!!

Exactly when do you get to work? LOL  As for the lawnmower, at least you made 2 laps around the yard, so you at least tried!!!
