What pulls at your Heart?

What pulls at your Heart?

There are a couple of things that pull at the strings of my heart!  I bet that you would never hear a man say something on this line, huh?  Well you have now I have to go and explain myself.  So for the purpose of this writing I will only focus on one of the few things that tug at my heart.

I was watching Tuesday nights' edition of Americas' Got Talent.  Ok, I have watched just about all of this year's offerings so far.  I have a soft spot for folks that make it and this year there were a couple of people that really brought a tear to my eyes.  Fess up you had a couple too if you have been following the show.

Last nights' show had two people that at the start of their performance set me up to be a big baby.  One was a lady that put her baby girl up for adoption at birth and found her thru myspace.  She set her dreams of becoming a singer on hold and now 21 years later was on stage singing her heart out.  Then there was the final act of the night, a soldier that had just come back from a 15 month stint in Iraq.  This guy again was awesome too.

So, in looking at I find people that overcome and never loose sight of their dreams set me up to be very proud of them whether I know them or not.  It is this caliber of people that win out in the end and achieve their dreams.  And I will tear up why, because they win they overcome that that has held them back!

It is this kind of inspiration that we should look at and try to emulate.  Not turn back because it is too tough or we don't make this month's goal but, keep our dream of being a success in whatever it is we are working at in front of us.  Don't loose sight of what you want to achieve.

So what pulls at your heart?  Guys are you man enough to comment?

Don, I think people, men OR women, that care about others and help them with no thought of anything in return pull at my heart. I see it as pure goodness and like it when I see it.

Don...

What pulls at me heart the most are people that overcome incredible obstacles to fulfill their dreams. One of my favorite movies is "Rudy." Rudy didn't dream to be a champion, or to catch the winning touchdown pass, or to save the day for his team. All he wanted to do was to officially play for Notre Dame, and what he had to do to achieve that simple dream is a tremendous story.

Richard,

I have watched Rudy several different times and even knowing how the movie ends there are still tears in the end.  He did not know the meaning of the word quit.  The original Energizer Bunny and the only carried off the field on players shoulders.

Thank you my friend for the reminder I had forgotten about his story.

As I get a bit older it seems that more things get to me than ever before. I find myself getting emotional about family and even at movies. I fought it but I guess I'm getting softer in my old age.

My wife would kill me if I told her we were moving back to Texas and taking her away from the grandkids.  It wouldn't be pretty, if I moved back it would be by myself.  HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM?

Ken,

I find the older I get the softer I get.  Is that a good thing?
