I'm curious -- what's the craziest thing you've done in staging a home? Here's my story.
A couple of weeks ago I got a call to stage an upscale home in the area that had been vacated by the homeowners, but all furniture and accessories remained. While the owners had some very nice, quality furnishings, including thousands of dollars worth of rugs, they were not put together well. For instance, I noticed that the rugs were mismatched to other colors in the rooms and needed to be swaped out. Also, the house lacked sparkle and pop. Furniture needed to be shifted within rooms and from room-to-room. What fun! It was time to get to work.
Day 1 was spent moving furniture and rugs with the help of 2 strong men. Day 2 was spent putting away clutter and shifting accessories already in the home. Day 3 was D-day! I shopped for "sizzle" items to make the home show in its best possible light. So what was the crazy thing I did? I actually put 8 dinner plates of my wedding china and 3 place settings of my mother's heirloom china in the dining room!!! I can't believe I did it! What was I thinking? But I must say, it was the right finishing touch for the room.
So what's your story? This should be fun.
