In 2008 I thought we were past this type of thinking. I see not!!

You know there are several things (topics) that I try to stay away from because at times it can lead to so much controversy but it has become prevalent of late. Where do these radio personalities get off thinking saying disparaging remarks about African Americans. First (and most recently) the Don Imus fiasco concerning the Rutgers University Women’s Basketball team.

I will not dignify and write what he said as I know most everyone has heard it before. What gives him the right to spew his venom across the airwaves for all to hear. And after it was said the famous reply is ”they took it out of context”. There is no way when you spew hatred that anyone ( with a modicum of common sense) would not see what you are doing. It has been said before what comes out of the mouth is already on your heart. Why are they allowed to be back on the air. Why were they not put in prison. Is it because of “freedom of speech”? I came from a family who brought me up to respect people for who they are and for some reason you didn’t like them keep it to yourself or suffer the consequences.

My mother taught me a valuable lesson. She said you meet people singularly day in and day out. There is no way you can hate or dislike a whole race of people because you will never meet the whole race. I have used that thought pattern over the years and it makes perfect sense to me. I have 3 beautiful children who are of mixed race. I LOVE THEM DEARLY!!!! I am no longer with their mom but I have such great respect for her and she (thru my God) brought them here into this world.  We thought them to accept people for who they are as well.

Now one of the main reasons for this is I received an email stating a comment by

'I don't want to go on a lynching party against Michelle Obama unless there's evidence, hard facts, that say this is how the woman really feels. If that's how she really feels -

That it is a bad country or a flawed nation,  whatever - then that's legit. We'll track it  down.'

The name was left out but if you are interested Google Star Jones and read her response to this statement. You will find out who said it.

This being said about the wife of one of our Presidential candidates.  2008 ladies and gentleman. People still think like this. There would be no way I could (or any rational human ) not think this was taken in the way it was said. I read just as plain and clear like the next person. Would this have been said to the wife (or husband) of a candidate if they were white. Was it said about Hillary Clinton? No. Other things were said but nothing to this level. You may or may not agree with her thought pattern but does it rise to the level of wanting to have her killed over it. I am a child of the latter 50’s. I was not here in the USA for a number of years as my family relocated elsewhere. So a lot of what happened here I was not privy to but I know enough to know what happened in that time period was not a good thing.

I sat in on a meeting (yesterday) at the Fair Housing Center and as the meeting progressed I thought again in 2008 in the richest country in the world there are so many ignorant individuals who would discriminate against people because of the color of their skin. It baffles me just to think of it. Why should there be a Fair Housing Center? Should people not know that they should treat each other as equals? Did God in His infinite wisdom think HE will make some people better than others? Even as I wrote that it sounded ludicrous. So why does it happen? Because people think they can hide it. They discriminate because they know no better. All excuses in my book. It sickens and saddens me because my grandkids will grow up in this mess of a world. You should feel the same way too. It’s going to take our Lord to come here and straighten this world out. In the Bible (in Revelations) it states all things of this world will pass away. I can’t wait. I truly can’t. I’m not asking one person to agree with me. I leave that to your conscience.

John. You are correct in your statement but my issue is with people who command the airwaves spew that stuff to millions of people. If you feel that way so be it and yes you need prayer but when you tell others it's a whole new game. I know a journey begins with the first step but folks like this make it hard for others out here.

Aloha Lisa. It matters when one of the candidates happens to be black the dissenters come out of the closet and say things then retreat to the 'you took it out of context" thingy. I'm tired of it. I think it will get worse before it gets better. This is giving me flashbacks to John Kennedy and we know what happened to him. Thank you for stopping by.

Leslie. Very true. But they will have to WANT to change. It has to be their choice.

Hi Robert, Thank You for revealing what it means to be impartial.  Everybody has red blood.  That's all that matters.  We are all human beings.  We are the crown of creation.  We are all precious and priceless!

Don't let this anger you for to long.  It definitely will do to people's ignorance.  Think positive and thank God you  had a good upbringing and continue to raise your children in a positive way.

Robert, it's a sad day world that hinges on racism or judging people of any steps of life. I hope that some day this isn't a issue and we all live as one.

Dan. Very true but lots of people dont see it that way. That's the sad part. Then they have the audacity to speak that trash to millions of people.

Duane. That was how it was intended. But it's that "pesky choice thing" that rears it's head.

I see the point of your post but I have a question. When Don Imus made the comment you referrenced why was he the only one that the public was upset with when his co-host made the same comment? I would also like to know your thoughts on the thesis that Mrs. Obama wrote her senior year at Princeton.

Robert,

I know it is easier for me to say, as a white male, in this particular situation, but we are called to love them all...regardless of how ridiculous their comments are.  (I will add that I do believe that any racism that exists today - only exists because of lack of education)  We must not get involved in a debate about whether they should be held responsible for their comments, when we know that He is already holding them responsible.

Michelle Obama strikes me as the type of woman who can stand up for herself, and if her response to any racist comment was anything other than concern for the racist, I would be surprised.  Robert, you should know by now that I love you as a brother in christ, and I am concerned when I see a brother fall into the trap that the Deceiver wants us to fall into of worrying about how the world thinks of us (any of Us).  Remember, he doesn't care what side of the faith boat you fall off of, he just wants you to fall...God Bless...Jason

Robert, I know it's a choice, but what happened to the common sense factor we were all born with, that's where a lot of people go astray.

Vanguard. Well i didn't know that the co host had made the same comment. So i will put him in the same boat with him. If he wasn't smart enough to think on his own and know that was the wrong thing to say.. On her thesis. I haven't read it myself. I'm not questioning her views because she too has choices. But my issue is with anyone( regardless of color)  open up up their mouth before thinking. That thesis might be rife with stuff i may or may not agree with. But the fact of someone "checking" into a lynching because of who she is. That is where the problem lies. Freedom of speech extends to ALL races. It's ok to disagree with someone. That's called lively debate. But you cross the line when you want to do bodily harm to another human being. Some times i'm afraid for their lives because people will do things because of who you are not what you can do to benefit the whole.

Robert, great post! It's crazy how we have this racial war with in our own country. What's even worse is there's probably people you speak with everyday who have hidden racial thoughts. It's a form of ignorance and upbringing. We are all taught morals from early stages of life. Let God handle it. He works in funny ways and as long as you follow His path and Hold to His hand, you will be rewarded. Spread the word and kill em with kindness. And remember you are in charge of your world and control your own surroundings.
