Ok, seriously am I the only business owner who has to start with almost nothing and turn it into a life-long professional career on which I will support my family? I was under the impression that all business owners had to do that, so why does it seem as though nobody wants to give you the chance? Is it because you dont have your phone number on a double page ad in YellowBook? Is it that when your business category is searched on google.com you dont come up in the top three so all of a sudden you are not worthy? I just dont see how you are expected to get anywhere without the initial invitation to do so. But then again maybe you arent expected to get anywhere, and the main cause of success really is individual hard work and perseverance?!
Brad,
Welcome to AR. I look forward to seeing your photograph uploaded soon. AR will certainly give you the chance to ask for business. Remember in all service industries you have to ask. The business does not come to you. Even top professionals have to ask for business.
Yes Brad - You know the answer, the "main cause of success really is individual hard work and perseverance?!" Do that! Spend less time looking for someone to give you an opportunity. As they say, the best way to predit the future is to create it.
OUCH.... I hope you are just venting from having a bad day, and this isn't your everyday attitude.
You can't wait for anyone to give you anything, you have to market yourself. You might want to start with a picture... People do business with people they like... Maybe if they can add a face to your name, they may see something in you they like and call... Even the Lord says "Faith without works is dead" You gotta give something to get something..
Best of Luck...
Hello Brad, This is a tough group sometimes. Start with a photo and some business cards, post on Localism. Research the special on CNBC How I made my millions, the 1800 Got Junk and others.
Good luck to you.
Yes, sounds to me like you should just start getting yourself out there more. I have built the bulk of my business from people I met in line at the grocery store at the gas pump. You'd be surprised how far a, "These gas prices are crazier than Mel Gibson," will get you!
Brad - Starting is hard, failing is worse. Blood, sweat and tears added with faith and prayer is the key to lasting success. I'm sure that's not news to you. Think about your profession...who needs your services. Don't mail things to them, show up and shake their hands. Realtors, storage facilities, show up at garage sales (they may be trying to thin out their stuff before they move). Be creative, give people a reason why they would want to work with you. Brand yourself as THE moving in your area. You can do, but you're gonna have to work harder than you ever thought you could...but your family is worth it.
