What fun we had last weekend when Presque Isle Yacht Club held its fifth annual DOG Race/Poker Run otherwise known as the Dinghy Owner Group. Sixteen dinghies participated in the DOG Race/Poker Run on Presque Isle Bay, Erie, PA.
My husband, Dave, and I assisted in passing out the first of five cards from C Dock at the club. The race was delayed a bit because Dave couldn't find the fifth set of cards, but his wife, me, told him for a third time to look in one of many pockets in his shorts. When he found the cards in the bottom pocket he promptly said, "Mayaculpa, a senior moment," and bowed to the group. The captains and first mates got in their dinghies and the race began. The DOGs made three stops around the bay picking up cards 2, 3 and 4. Card 5 was given back at the club later in the evening. Fun, games, cheers and the crowning of the Top Dog and the Mad Dog followed.
The event was sponsored by several local establishments with the proceeds benefiting the NW Pennsylvania Autism Association. www.nwp-asa.org
