Whitney Ranch is one of the well established Master Planned Communities in the Las Vegas Valley. Located on the northeast side of Henderson at the base of Whitney Mesa, it offers a lot of convenience. It's very close to the largest commercial corridor in the state, with an abundance of shopping, restaurants, and services moments away. Galleria at Sunset Mall with it's many stores and valet parking is next door, as well as Sunset Station Hotel and Casino with concerts, bowling and cinemas, and numerous other strip malls throughout the immediate area. Just beyond that is the Valley Auto Mall and with it's 16 dealerships and 185 acres, it's one of the largest in North America.
Whitney Ranch also has great access to the interstate system. Just off the 515/93/95 you can head south, to get onto the Henderson 'Spaghetti Bowl' interchange and connect with the 215 beltway to I 15 toward southern California or the west side of the valley. Or continue past the interchange to Boulder City, recreation at Lake Mead, and with the new Hoover Dam bypass bridge opening in 2010 even better access to Arizona. To the north downtown Las Vegas is only minutes away, and so is I 15 to Utah, while avoiding the busier Strip corridor section of that highway. For local north / south travel there is easy access to Boulder Highway. It's also a breeze to McCarran Airport by using the 'side door', coming in on Russell Rd. that borders the north side, and an easy east / west route to the Strip using Sunset Rd. on the south side.
Jim Thorpe K - 2 and Harriet Treem Elementary 3 - 5 is right on Patrick Lane in Whitney Ranch, and Thurman White Middle School is across the street on Galleria Dr. The middle school's park offers soccer fields and is next to Stephanie Lynn Craig Park with baseball fields and play equipment. Green Valley High School is in between Whitney Ranch Drive and Warm Springs. It has consistently been listed in Newsweek's top high schools in the nation, this year again ranking it in the top 5%. There is also the College of Southern Nevada Green Valley Center for Advanced Technology on the GVHS campus. In addition to academics, GVHS is known for their arts. Currently they are presenting the world amateur premier of Disney's High School Musical 2. and during the school year they put on an excellent production of Beauty and the Beast. Athletics also have an important roll at the school, and in particular the Green Valley Gators Baseball Program.
Henderson is known for it's abundant parks and recreation, and Whitney Ranch is no exception. Across from the middle school is the Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, that in addition to it's facilities provides the Safekey Program for children of working parents. Adjacent to that is the outdoor pool and water slides, and the Aquatic Center indoor pool. Also not far is the Arroyo Grande Sports Complex, and the many facilities around UNLV's Sam Boyd Stadium that includes sports fields, and Radio Controlled Silver Bowl Raceway Car Track, and William Bennett Radio Controlled Airfield, home of the Las Vegas Superfly.

Whitney Ranch is just one of the dozens of exciting communities you can find throughout Henderson or the Las Vegas Valley. There are many more that offer a wide variety of lifestyle choices and amenities. Others I've posted recently are The Lakes, The Las Vegas Strip, Rhodes Ranch, Toll Brothers at Inspirada, and Tuscany Village, and that is just to name a few.
