Spaulding Interiors - "The" furniture store in Fairbanks

Since when does a new house mean new furniture? If you ask Kathy it's in the fine print on page 43 of the marriage contract. I don't know where my reading glasses are so I'll have to take her word for it.

We've built several homes over the years and it seems that with each new house comes a new slate of furniture. Sure, the antique pieces and family heirlooms get moved under the watchful eye of my better half. But it's inevitable that certain rooms in the house seem to undergo a transformation with each change of address.

We have several furniture stores here in Fairbanks that offer solid, if uninspiring (can furniture be inspiring?) furniture. You know, the one's with the it-all-looks-every-other-store furniture. Then, there are the few special places where you find truly spectacular estate quality pieces.

Spaulding Interiors is one such place.

An oasis of extraordinary estate quality furniture. Tamara Spaulding has been decorating and furnishing Fairbanks for many years and let me tell you, she does it very, very well. Hew new showroom is open on Illinois just south of Minnie Street. If you're looking for a particular piece or furniture for an entire room, do yourself a favor and go see Tamara. You'll be glad you did!

JESSE - Nice feature of a local business.  I'm planning on doing a series of these myself.

Funny how a new home always seems to inspire new furniture. Must be its personality talking to you.

Jesse, sounds wonderful but I am more interested in seeing the marriage contract.  I missed this step and I'll bet my life it says to never come home with a non-self-propelled... oh never mind.  What's done is done.  xxoo

Jesse ~ What a nice recognition of this local decorator and her business.  That's the clause that is written in invisible ink and you have to use lemon juice and a candle to read, right? : )  I anticipate that once we move from our current home, I will be furnishing a new one with new furniture - you just gotta do it!

Put 40 years of experience to work for you

Hi Jesse: See, I inspired you with Cortopassi. LOL. Naw, I most likely had nothing to do with it. But I am in the process of replacing furniture in my home. I realized when I moved from CA to Minneapolis and carted all my belongings 2,000 miles, that three years later, none of it was in my home. I should have left it where it was. In fact, much of what I carted six years ago from Minneapolis back to CA is no longer in my home, either. Hmmmm . . .

Jesse, you and Elizabeth I think are getting kickbacks from promoting your local merchants LOL. But you do it so very well, what can I say? Clue you in with women and men Jesse, it's a seasonal thing with them and changing out the furniture or remodeling. With men, all furniture is uninspiring. So are runs to the store to buy self-propelled vacuum cleaners. There are just some things in life we are not good at.

Nicely done, Jesse.  I am a huge proponent of shopping with locally owned and operated businesses and this is a perfect example!
