WHICH SPORT HAS THE LARGEST PLAYING FIELD???

By
Real Estate Agent with International Property Management Group, LLC 91013

Do you know?  I know!!  I know!!  This is a great little piece of trivia for EVERYONE!!  There are alot of sports in the world using very large playing fields.

A baseball field is pretty big.  baseball field

What about  Soccer -Field Hockey -  Rugby???   What about Lacrosse?............  (A Lacrosse field is 110' long by 60' wide)

By now you are thinking - come on, Kara - we know it is a football field!  Is that what you are thinking??  That it must be a football field?  Well, a football field is 360' long by 160' wide.

arrowhead stadium - kansas city chiefs

If you haven't guessed by now - I'll fill you in.   Did you know?...... that a polo field is the largest playing field in all sports.    Well, think about it - with all those horses out there it has to be big.  Two teams with four players each  (and all on horseback) - - PLUS two referees - both on horseback.   The field has to be big!

Take a look!

300 yards long and 160 yards wide to be exact.  Slightly larger than 9 football fieldsand almost 10 acres in size.

hey Ryan.....  according to my sources -  A Canadian Football Field is 150 yards long by 65 yards wide.   Still a far cry from the polo field dimensions of 300 yards long and 160 yards wide.   sorry.

Yes Frank - the spectators are along both sides of the field.     This pic is from a huge tourny final match so the vip tents are set up along the clubhouse side of the field :)

I think you just answered your own question Ryan.  Is it a golf course - - - or a golf field?  ;)

(it would appear that Ryan came back and deleted his comment...hmmm - not sure why, though.   His question was "what about a golf course?"  )

Hi Duane !  Yes the horses do get very tired (and a fresh horse is key to the players performance) - - that is why every player has a 'string of polo ponies'.

Kara, ahh, didn't know that. Think the only time I seen any thing to do with Polo was on Pretty Woman.

True...however ironically the sport, though some don't like to call it one, with the largest area for play; is also the sport with one of, if not the smallest ball played with. GOLF

are you kidding me !!???--- the polo players are definitely athletes!...as are all equestrians, in every discipline. They train just like any other athlete, and are paid very well for their performance, some players making more than pro football players, per match! you may have a large park, but this post was specifically about which sport has the largest playing field, not just the largest place to play or relax in the world.

Depends on the sport really as they all have different traits.

If you talking one with guys out there running around hard with tackles and all try the AFL (Australian Football league) with the MCG (20,000 sqm)
