2004 Mercedes..only $50 ..no kidding! True story!

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Greenville Central

This is the story:

A man was browsing the paper for a new car when he saw a new listing that said 2004 Mercedes Wagon, macked out, low mileage -$50

His eyes almost popped out of his head. He called the number listed sure that the price was $50K not 50 dollars. The lady answered and he asked if the car was available. She said yes. He asked to confirm the price and she said $50 dollars! He was sweating with excitement and asked whether he could come to look at the car immediatly. She said yes and gave him directions. He was sure there must be something wrong with the car, a wreck or something awful but he went anyway.

He flew to the address and there it was in the driveway. A 2004 black Benz.

It looked immaculate. She met him outside and opened the car. 30K miles, absolutely every bell and whistle. He confirmed again the price of $50 and she again said yes. He asked if she'd take full price and again she said yes.

While she was signing over the titlework to him he dared to ask. Why this incredible car soooo underpriced?

Here's her response...this is a true story guys!

She said. Well my husband is gone. He looked at her with pity. No no! she replied. He left me for a younger woman. Even now he's in another country with this younger woman. He told me that I could have everything BUT the car. He said "sell it and send me the money". So here's his $50!

Thought you'd enjoy!

Do you know that I heard this story/joke about 15 years ago except it was with a red Porsche. Sorry but that's an oldie for me and as I was reading I was waiting to read about the husband. Spiteful because he walked. I'm sure there will be a few who fall for it :))

Funny story but unless the title was in her name she could not sell the car. The owner must sign the title to transfer ( at least that is how it works in OHIO)

As far as the circumstances- Karma at it's best!

Jamie- Same here in MI. Even if he had actually passed away she would of had to do more than just sign her name off on the title, she would of had to get his removed from the title from the Secretary of States/ DMV office... But you better believe I would of given her the $50 and ragged on it like crazy (since I really wouldn't legally own it and he deserves that to be done anyways LMAO). Personally If I were her I would of taken it to a less reputable scrap yard and sent him a picture of it being crushed (she would of gotten all he gave her and kept her word of not keeping the car lol) :-D

Holly, that's an oldie but goodie.

Here's the real estate version:

The Curtain Rods

She spent the first day packing her belongings into boxes, crates and suitcases.

On the second day, she had the movers come and collect her things.

On the third day, she sat down for the last time at their beautiful dining room table by candle light, put on some soft background music and feasted on a pound of shrimp, a jar of caviar and a bottle of Chardonnay. When she had finished, she went into each and every room and deposited a few half-eaten shrimp shells dipped in caviar, into the hollow of the curtain rods. She then cleaned up the kitchen and left.

When the husband returned with his new girlfriend, all was bliss for the first few days. Then slowly, the house began to smell. They tried everything cleaning, mopping and airing the place out. Vents were checked for dead rodents and carpets were steam cleaned. Air fresheners were hung everywhere. Exterminators were brought in to set off gas canisters, during which they had to move out for a few days, and in the end they even paid to replace the expensive wool carpeting. Nothing worked. People stopped coming over to visit. Repairmen refused to work in the house. The maid quit. Finally, they could not take the stench any longer and decided to move. A month later, even though they had cut their price in half, they could not find a buyer for their stinky house. Word got out and eventually even the local Realtors refused to return their calls.

Finally, they had to borrow a huge sum of money from the bank to purchase a new place. The ex-wife called the man and asked how things were going. He told her the saga of the rotting house. She listened politely and said that she missed her old home terribly, and would be willing to reduce her divorce settlement in exchange for getting the house back. Knowing his ex-wife had no idea how bad the smell was, he agreed on a price that was about 1/10th of what the house had been worth, but only if she were to sign the papers that very day.

She agreed and within the hour his lawyers delivered the paperwork. A week later the man and his girlfriend stood smiling as they watched the moving company pack everything to take to their new home......Including the curtain rods.

Ok so I really do know someone who did this. It was his wife's car and he brought it to the junk yard and told them to give him a scrap price for it. The junk yard guy asked him how much he would take for it and my friend said give me $200 for it. The judge in court the next day ordered them to split the proceeds from the sell and he handed the judge a receipt for $200 so they each got $100. She was ticked!
