New week, New goals, tell me yours and I'll tell you mine.

Real Estate Agent with Exit Realty DTC 003887

I would like to encourage the members of Exit Peeps to share their goals.  If you are like me, you keep a checklist in your head and it seems never ending. Mandy and I decided to meet every Monday to talk about our goals for that week and I would like to expand this to sharing them with you.  They can be work related or personal, either way I encourage you to write them down whether it be here or some where else.  If you have never written your goals down before this is a great way to start and get the encouragement form other members to help you reach you goals.

Tat's goals this week.

1. Complete our new website and get it live. I am really close.

2. Activate our 1-800 number for our new marketing campaign

3. Get the design completed for the scooter campaign postcards

4. Complete the grape of the month blog and one wine video for twodivinegirls.com

5. Go to 2 pilates classes this week.

That's it.  Of course I would put to obtain a new listing, but I got that over the weekend and I am going to take the pictures today.  YEA!!!

Final words of wisdom to my fellow peeps:

"What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?"

It's true, putting your goals down in writing makes them sound a lot more serious. I am right now using this commenting time on Active Rain as an excuse not to go exercise, so here's my written goal: I will get outside and move for at least a half hour before the clock strikes 9:30 (that gives me 26 minutes to finish commenting and get out of here!). Thanks for the post!

nice, from the bottom up, what would I attempt to do?  change my perspective, I would go back mentally to pre marriage, pre kids, to a casual care free approach to life.  Now, I want to keep my wife and children I just want to get back to the basics............

Goals:

1. talk to more referral partners
2. complete my research on energy efficient mortgages
3. start to develope new marketing material on GREEN mortgages/houses for realtors and sphere of influence
4. enjoy my kids, it's the last week before school starts
5. play a solid tennis match on Wed.
6. contact 3 friends/acquintance that I normally don't catch up with outside of certain groups, shake it up a bit.
7. be a good husband and father

Adding to Tatyana's list that I do, I also must finish updating my database and get a mailer out to all, and  let them know I moved to a new office. Today I finished volunteering at the school and dropped off marketing for our wine blog at the Wineseller. Now I will get in touch with my weekly client calls.

Jeff, I would like to discuss your goals w/ you if that's ok.

#1 What sort of referral partners are you talking about, mortgage reps, title reps, insurance reps, the teller at the bank, or within the active rain community?  Your Hoa reps??? (if you live in an Hoa?)  Who and when do you plan on talking to and what are you going to talk about?

My top 3 would be:

#1. Realtors/builders
#2. Sphere of influence
#3. Attorneys and financial planners

I have been pretty consistent at making phone calls to all of the above, who are currently in my data base.  I do a good deal of marketing to my "data base" (via email and snail mail) with what I hope is timely/useful information.  I don't really set an agenda when I make these calls, I hope to ask a lot of questions about what they're seeing and hopefully find an area that I can be of service; i.e. yesterday I sent an email blast to my sphere of influence.

My struggle is getting out and "banging" on doors or calling people I don't currently have a relationship with.  I have never had a great deal of success with this approach, so I obviousely struggle with the value?

Jeff, I agree it is hard to set an agenda with the type of schedules we can have when it comes to serving our clients.  I always try and do on a weekly basis.  Like I will make a goal to spend 2 hours total throughout the week to make my calls.  Door knocking can be tedious, in my opinion it is not necessary.  A good way to promote yourself I've found is to promote other businesses first.  make a blog about your local businesses on localism.  Ask their permission and take their picture and get their email and let them know you will email the link to them.  Who is going to say no to free advertisement.  Take it a step further and have them team up with you to do a coupon mailer to your sphere or farm.  It will be two fold, you will over time become the local expert and the businesses you help promote will see you have a genuine interest in seeing their business grow and will naturally want to do business with you because you care about their own interest.  And don't forget, everyone you meet send thank you cards out everyday handwritten.

Whats next: What the heck is an energy efficient mortgage????????

Lanre,  I have a couple of cool tips for you to help you with your goals.  Well first of all what is wrong with your car?????

I checked out you on-line referral directory very cool.  Check out www.ning.com  You can build an on-line blog with your referral directories for free.  They can go on there and make their own page with in your blog website on ning.  And again it is free!!!!  I have one for my wine blogging website, are  you a wine lover, and one for my HOA.  3rd, the free website to promote listing.  Check out point2 agent.com  it used to be free but now is $9.00 a month and will blast your listing all over the Internet to various sites and give you a pretty cool website you can customize.  Let me know what you think.

Okay, my top goal has to be to exercise at least half an hour every day.

2. Prospect daily--I really need to make myself get out and meet more people; I have joined a couple of groups to nework; now I have to start participating in activities.

3. Have a mentoring meeting with my recruit weekly

Good stuff Tat - thanks.

energy efficient mortgages.  I am learning the In's and outs, but the short version is.  For a purchase or refinance a person gets an energy report done (HERS report).  For a purchase you can take the expected costs of energy efficient improvements and add them to the loan, increasing the loan amount without impacting the loan to value/purchase price.  You also are able to take the anticipated monthly savings from the improvements and reduce the monthly housing payment by that amount - helping with any debt ratio issues.

I have not done one and am working diligently to put together a marketing piece for my Realtor and sphere base.  I read a blog where someone gave a seminar, had a local "expert" talk and Realtors were able to get 3, what do you guys call it, course hours.

Again, thanks for the suggestion on working with local merchants, I will spend time today highlighting business to approach; then figure out the whole localism thing.

Where you at on your list?

Tatyana- Car needs oil change. Should be back on the road next week. I am also going to check out www.ning.com. I need everything that I can get for free to promote myself as a real estate professional. And I need to attend more meetups. I always sign up but I never attend them. I really need to stop doing that. I have a point 2 agent site www.freelistofhomesforsale.com. But I am not getting any leads on the site. Any suggestions/ideas/advice? Have a great weekend. Thanks for sharing. Great post.

Hey Jeff, what fun things did you do with your kids this weeK.  How was the first day back to school.  Thanks for the explanation on green mortgages.  Do you have a local paper you could write about it in there, or do a newsletter to your sphere about it.  Should be great pretty new.
