Flag

This week-end as I was cutting my grass... I started thinking about how lucky I am to live in such a great country and to say that I own a part of this great country. I live on 18 acres so I have lots of time to think as I go up and down on my mower; looking at the sky, trees, hawks flying and thinking of all the sons & daughters, mothers & fathers, husbands & wives and friends that have given their lives for all of us to be free! A tear ran down my face and I thought I should write a post on this. But I did not!

Then on the news they told a story about a man from California that was running from California to Arlington Cemetery in honor of a dear friend who died in the war. They were posting a flag with a soldiers name on it for each soldier that has died. Again I thought I should write about that and again I did not.

Then this morning I heard a news story of how that runner came through Clarksville, TN to Nashville, TN. I grabbed a cup of coffee and went to work with the thought; I should post something about this, but again I did not.

On my way home, driving from Clarksville down Hwy 48 (a two lane road) I saw in the corner of my eye a flag tied to a street sign. Then, thinking of the story from this morning; I saw another flag, every mile was a flag...tears filled my eyes at the sadness; all the lives lost to keep our country free! I did not know how close the runners were to my home and that they were posting those flags as I was mowing my yard being thankful for the freedom we enjoy.

The reason I am writing this post is to say...

I know each American has pride in our Country & it's Soldiers but we do not always tell anyone. I want to say to everyone ... speak out about your American Pride and let our Military know how we feel!

I would like to say I am sorry for the sorrow suffered by the families who have lost a loved one due to war.

To say THANK-YOU to the soldiers and their families that are currently serving our military and to those who have served in the past.

I would like the comments for this post to be a tribute to honor All the Men & Women that have given their lives, who are currently serving or who have ever served the military! If you have a picture post it with their name and anything you would like to say about them!

I send my love and gratitude to all who have served in the Military and for what you have given to keep the United States Free.

God Bless you and Your Families!

Brenda,  That is a very lovely sentiment.  My former Marine husband very frequently reminds our family of the debt we owe to those who gave "full measure".  Karen

BRENDA, My Dad served for 5 years in World War II and our son is presently on his second tour of Iraq.  I am fortunate that he is an Intelligence Analyst so chases bad guys with a computer and mouse.  Once he finds them someones loved one has to go after them.  Freedom is not FREE!! We owe a debt of gratitude to all those who serve so we can have our freedom.

Sergeant Tarren James Peterson Hi Brenda:  I told  you on my tattered flag post that I would come over and post my son's name and information.

Here's the picture of our son; Sergeant Tarren James Peterson.  He just recently made Sergeant.  He is an Intelligence Analyst with the Army.  He is presently serving in his second tour of Iraq.  I do have to say this tour is TONS better than his last tour was.  This time he is in Baghdad at Forward Operating Base Falcon.  Last time he was in a little town called Hit that was just northwest of Ramadi.  Last time he was in a room with some 25 to 30 guys; this time he has one roommate so that is really cool.  Last time the A/C often went out and he often didn't have water to bathe.  Not so this time.  Last time my Mom and I sent food because the food was really not great; not so this time.  As you can tell he is in a much better place this time.

As a Mom I'm glad he is chasing bad guys with a computer and a mouse.  He was actually supposed to get out of the Army this month but got the stop/loss so will not be getting out until this coming June.  I am proud of his attitude with this extended stay in the Army.

This is a beautiful tribute to those in military service and those who have lost their lives... 'Guess we (the moderators) are gonna have to make an exception about the group guidelines that the name of your nearby military installation has to be in 2 of the three - title, content, tags.  Thank you for posting this to motivate all of us to pause a moment, and thank you to all the families of ou service men and women!

I am soorry for not following your guidelines and will do my best to follow them my next posting... second for your kind remarks. I think it's great to remember our fallen heros & above all the brave men & women that are currently seperated from their loved ones. My husband is in Iraq & at times it's been tough but I'm thankful for every day.

Brenda,
Paying tribute to our military men and women is something we should do often.  They sacrifice so much for all of us and we can never repay them for their service.
