Hello all,
I'm not going to share much about Real Estate http://marykidwellhomes.com/ right now but about fun with your family. Some days I'm going nuts trying to work from home with kids around (and sometimes neighbors) all day, trying to schedule showings, give feedback, talk to clients, post ads, etc. Other days, I relish in the fact that I have the flexibility to sometimes just take most of a day and do fun things with my kids.
I just wanted to share that I went biking on the 3rd Creek Greenway trail with my kids (8 and 10) and we had a blast. It is a fairly easy trail with a few hills and goes for 4.5 miles. However, we only biked from Tyson Park to the Forest Hills neighborhood (about 6 miles there and back) and stopped for lunch at Long's Drug's. Katie and Patrick love to get cherry cokes there and like the burgers and other foods too. Even though we rode during the middle of the day, it was a pleasant ride because of the shade on the trail. In all the years I've lived in Knoxville, this is my first biking trip on this Greenway. It is now one of Katie's favorites because of the easy terrain (and the cherry coke). We saw red mushrooms, all kinds of butterflies, red velvet ants, a crane and a heron, and more. We spent over 2 hours just enjoying the ride, the scenery, and even stopping at the playground at Tyson Park.
We also biked the Sterchi Hills Greenway, Adair Park, and the Victor Ashe Greenway this summer in addition to riding at the World's Fair Park. If you haven't taken your kids to any of these great places, you need to get in the groove. You can even fish from the dock at the Holston Hills Greenway and now go canoeing ($20/person); http://www.cityofknoxville.org/recreation/canoeing.asp
Biltmore House and Gardens http://www.biltmore.com/ still has free admission for children through Labor Day. We're going this weekend so I'll let you know how our trip goes. AndWe went tubing in Townsend last week with cousins and had a blast but got scrapes and bruises from tumbles in the rapids. We've done this several times before but never with the water so rough. The rains have made the river a bit scary for tubing. Anyway, if you are brave, go for it. The older kids loved it but my 8 year old was very frightened and cried after being thrown off her raft (13 and under must wear lifejackets, thank goodness) and I was nervous watching her. The good thing was, this was our 2nd trip of the day down the river. The first one was much smoother and none of us got hurt; 2nd time and 6 of 8 (including myself) of us ended up with cuts, bruises, and lost sandals. An all day raft ride with van transportation is only $8/person. Choose a company that has the durable rafts or you won't make it to the end. Call ahead to see what the river is like that day. We always go to River Rage. http://www.riverragetubing.com/
Enjoy your week!
Mary
