Don't let The Newbie Police Put your Blog in Jail, ( SORRY NEWBIES )

Real Estate Agent with Kansas City Regional Homes

I write to you today to say I am sorry for not following the guidelines in your group.  I guess I can use the excuse of being a NEWBIE that caused this little misunderstanding.  It was brought to my attention today that I posted some blogs in this group that did not belong.  I did briefly look at the posting guidelines in the first day, but I mostly was using my thought of what I was reading in that group.  I guess we all maybe making the error of what should be posted to this group.

It is for learning about ACTIVE RAIN

It is to introduce yourself

It is to share informative information about how to get around in Active Rain

It is to share with new individuals those tips that might be useful in their future in Active Rain

Well I think you get the point.  I hope that I have shared this with a Newbie and they read it so they understand the rules of the group and they don't get a post ejected.

I do want all the group member to know that I really did feel bad when I saw the email.  I immediately went and re-read the guidelines.  I think I have it straight now and will not make that mistake again.

Yes, I must admit I too have posted blogs in the wrong group in error.  It is a very bad feeling when you get the email saying your post has been removed.  I recommended something to pop up and describe each group when selecting them to send your blog to.  Perhaps someday this will happen, and fewer mistakes will be made.

I am so relieved that I am not the only one who has done this.  I am also sure I will not be the one that has done this.  I am also glad to read that it has effected others as it did myself.  Thank you all for the feedback!

Paul, many of us have posted to the wrong group.  Thanks for not being upset with the Newbie Group Moderator (there are 6) for removing your post.  They are just trying to keep the Group on topic to make it easier for Newbies to find the information they are looking for.

Yes, you can edit your post to remove from a group or groups to another group or groups where it will be on topic.

See you around in the Rain!   :)

Oops.  I just got another one.  I think I posted everyone of my new posts this last week to this group because I thought I was a NEWBIE...  I think you finally got them all.

Paul: Don't feel bad. I've been here for over two years, and one of my posts were given the boot earlier today!

I have not gotten the boot yet from a group, but I know someday I will.  Keep the good attitude, Paul - great way to turn lemons into lemonade with this post.

I'm a newbie and I just had two of mine bounced.  One was a helpful "Tip" Tool to make widgets and postlets for ActiveRain site and blogs.  The other one was newbie inspiration about ActiveRainers helping AR.

It doesn't bother me either.  I now get that helpfull tip's or tools for AR and AR inspiration are boobo nu nu...

Don't be scared just jump in.  That is what I did.  If you get a boot don't worry, but you have read this now and so you know to really think about your content and find the appropriate group to post to.

Sorry to hear that you are frustrated.  I know this is a really good group to get started in so I think we like to post here to get going.  Don't be over it, think about your overall experience.

I am going to go find your tip tool to make widgets and stuff.  I have recently done a search on all of my relevent ideas and topics and found groups that I like and added myself to those groups so I will have them available for the next time I want to post a subject.

Paul - I made the same "mistake".  I think I had 2 posts removed from there - it is all good.  The first one scared me like I did something wrong but once I read the group info again it made sense.  There was also a post about it in the group.

It is one of my favourite groups as I am constantly learning more info from it.  But I would think the police would be out more as there always seems to be a ton of posts in there that should get the boot, similar to ours... or I am sure they will... LOL

Paul - Guilty here too. I finally managed to learn to edit the errant blog by removing  this group from the post but only after receiving a couple of emails and at last realizing that I could fix the problem. It is just part of the learning process!

Ok - and thanks for all the confessions but it's not all that terrible... you won't have to give up your first born..

Seriously - any one that's posted more than a couple of posts has had that happen...  The worse (should you make a mistake that we all do) is that your post will be removed from that group...  You're not in blogger jail...

don't let this stop you from posting - write - my little AR finger friends write!

What can you do ?  I have had several posts get kicked out of certain groups.  I got my 30,000 point milestone kicked out of the Newbie section as well - I thought that was somewhat appropriate showing a newbie what can be done... and then when you look at what is in there, it is all similar posts... What Ev... let's not sweat the small stuff !

From what I can figure out if it isn't instructional or to say HI this is my first time, nothing is really appropriate to post in this group.  I would think your milestone would be appropriate it is encouraging and in good spirit for new people to see.  Maybe they should losen it up a bit and allow some additional like MILESTONES.  That would be good.

I felt like I hadn't grovelled enough when I got kicked (rejected) out of the newbies today.  I felt like I owed someone an apology, but wasn't sure who!

Thanks for sharing that it happens!  Yikes!

Thank you for the pointer.  I'm sure I'll "step in that" sometime down the line, but may as well start off with the habit of checking the guidelines before hitting that submit button.  You said your wife helps you with your blogging.  Is she available to work part time?

Very good title.  I got hit by the bogging police.  I think it is a good wake up call actually.  It probably does scare some people away but it is good to read the guidelines for all groups.
