"NEW" STATE OF THE ART ENERGY EFFICIENT HOME CONSTRUCTION METHOD OVER 50 YEARS OLD

I have been working with a developer that is going to start building in Pleasant Valley Subdivision in Georgetown, Texas. He will be building using an innovative, energy efficient construction called SIPs, (Structural Insulated Panels) system. I have been impressed with this product since I first started working with him a little over one year ago. However the more I research the more surprised and impressed I am.

The product was introduced in Midland, Michigan, in 1952. Yet, less than 3% of homes built are SIPs. There are many manufacturers of SIPs throughout the country.  The one that is suppliing our panels
EH System LLC located in New Braunfels, Texas, has been making panels for thirty years and has come up with some innovative advancements, such as the spline system that makes for easier and faster construction as well as a stronger more durable frame.

Becuse the panels are sized, precut and preholed for wiring at the plant, then delivered to the home site, construction can be completed very quickly. Average homes in less than two months. The Exteriors look no different than a "stick-built" home, using any siding wanted, stucco, brick, natural stone, or hardyplank. The interiors are normal with studs and dry wall, and any floor plan whether using a pre-plan or a custom plan can be used. Because the roofs are panels also high ceilings are a normal feature.
 
There are numerous advantages to building with SIPs, such as:

• Energy effecient (can save more than 50% on utility bills)
• High winds resistant (rated up 155 mph, category 5 hurricane)
• R-Value of 15.2
• moisture, mold, insect, dust and pollen resistant 
• increased resistance to fire 
• Tax credit
  

Some other features, which will be including to complete the "system" are:

• Tankless water heater
• Vanguard Manobloc dedicated water lines system
• HVAC system that includes dehumidifier and air exchanger
