Do you live where you went to high school?

Yesterday I took my daughter to the doctor to get one of those required sports physicals to participate in school sports. I walked into the waiting room and sitting in one of the seats was a familiar face..

I immediatly stated that she looked familiar and after two questions we nailed it. We graduated from the same class!

I was able to establish that she had lived in thev Bellingham area yet hadn't recieved an invitation to our reunion. I just happened to be on the reunion committee and now have her information and it is all entered in our website.

We talked a bit and I found out a little about her and am jazzed that she will be included in our next function.

I remember when we were gathering names and information that many of the classmates live in or around Bellingham let alone the Northwest in general. We live in an amazing place that everyone comes back to!

Later my daughter commented on how I could recognize someone after 20+ years. I said, I don't know I just had a feeling and boy I'm glad I did. She can now be informed when classmates are getting together!

Both of my girls are also attending Sehome High so they will hopefully carry on the tradition of getting people together

Jen Ran- Its always fun when you go back. It even smells the same!

Sean Allen- names are hard to remember, there is a book I read that gives tricks on how to retain. something I need to read again:)

Peter- Don't let that stop you from getting everyone together! It's a blast!

That is a great story, now if she will only buy a home from you it would be perfect.  You never know when something like that will happen!

I live 10 minutes away from where I graduated high school.  I missed my 10 year high school reunion due to my job at the time, SWAT Callout, nothing I could do.  Hopefully I will make my 20 year reunion which will be in about 6 years :)

Katharine,

I am still local and were are celebrating our 20th reunion next month.  However, a lot of my class mates have moved away.  I do live in a military town.  So, I contribute that to some of it.

Katharine - I live very close to my old highschool.  I am pretty good at recognizing old classmates, for some reason.  No one usually recognizes me, though.  I think it's because I used to wear glasses...  :)

Nice story. I remember when i went back home to the Virgin Islands it was weird because i could look into the eyes of someone and recognize then right away and it had been years since i was there. I think it's time to go back there soon (Virgin Islands).

Oh my, I am glad I am not in my home town of 299.  I love to go visit my home that I grew up in, but I could never live there.

Katharine, I also wanted to mention that I run into a lot of people who grew up and went to HS where I currently live. Unfortunately, many of them tell me that they would love to live in the town where they grew up, but just can't afford it. that's too bad. besides the high prices of RE, I'm not sure what other obstacles would have gotten in their way.

Tony- From SWAT to a realtor, man I bet you have some stories to tell..

Jimmy- I would have to say my 20th was really the best, everyone had a wonderful time and were past proving themselves to each other:)

Tim- I hope you have the chance to go home and bump into a few classmates, as for your wife, maybe she could introduce you to all of hers :)

Debi- I will never forget the 10 year reunion, one of my classmates who wasn't noticed in high school was drop dead gorgeous and all the guys had their tongues on the floor. She was a very special person in my daughters life and passed away due to breast cancer.

Robert- Sounds like it's a good time to visit back home. I bet many would like to stuff themselves into your suitcase.

Kathleen- For some it is not as rewarding as for others.  How about college?

Peter- I think that is the hardest part, seeing those that you went to school with struggle, and your wish for them is to have a comfortable place to live.

It is about compassion and helping others with the tools to realize their dream.

Marci- I think most of us have put on a few by the time the 20th rolls around. Unless your a movie star with a personal trainer:)

Yep, I live in the same city as I graduated from.  My kids are in the same school district too.  It is alot of fun running into classmates.  We are all reconnecting on Facebook w/ a reunion page on there.

It's been a pretty drastic change for me -- from the snowy winters of Wisconsin to the desert heat of southern Nevada. Always fun to run into someone from UNLV and see where life has taken us since college days.

John- Wow that is quite a difference, but just think of all the money your saving on winter gear:)
