Culture. What you believe really matters. Excellence

CULTURE really does matter.  What is your business's culture?  If the owner hasn't set it, have the employees?  Is the culture best for business, or is it an accident?  My business coaching firm has well defined points of culture that guide the company and the coaches...and they're spot on for quality, accuracy and results!

Our fourth point of culture is EXCELLENCE.  Here's what excellence means to me as a business coach (and attorney) as well my ActionCOACH firm:

"Good enough isn't. I always deliver products and services of exceptional quality that add value to all involved for the long term. I look for ways to do more with less and stay on a path of constant and never ending improvement and innovation."

Constant and never ending improvement.  Can you imagine how STRONG, SUCCESSFUL and FULFILLED you would be if you improved just a paltry 1% each and every day?  Powerful thought, isn't it!  But it's not as easy as saying it.  It takes focus and determination.

The Japanese have a concept for constant and never ending improvement.  They call it KaizenIf you want a real-life lesson on Kaizen, do a quick Google search for "kaizen" and "Toyota".  The examples of Kaizen in the workplace might impress and inspire.

If you have good ideas on how to constantly and consistently improve yourself and your business, please share them with me!

Hey, Jason.

Your blog reminds me of a friend who has some rental properties in Texas. Whenever one comes up for new tenants, he flies down there to interview the applicants personally. He has a very simple interview proces:

1 - Note what kind of car they drive up in. 2008 BMW 760's get points over 1970 Datsun B210 station wagons.

2 - Note what bumper stickers are on the car. Sorority stickers get points over fraternity stickers.

3 - Note what is in the car. A clean car gets points over a back seat full of beer cans and McDonald's bags.

He has found that the appearance of a certain culture exhibited by the vehicles they drive can ensure that his rental checks always arrive on time. The only time he's been wrong was when the tenant was a graduated of the University of Texas at Austin and found out that the landlord was a graduate of Texas A&M University. Ah those ol' college rivalries seem never to go away.
