Since my recent post "New Agent's Blues", I have received a lot of great advice on marketing, maintaining a positive attitude, the importance of perseverance and other needed to "stay in the game" so to speak. Most of the comments I received were helpful and I felt blessed to have found the AR network so early in my Real Estate career.
All the comments made me feel invigorated and renewed and returned me to my "I can do it" attitude.
Yesterday was different though, for some reason I was under the weather, maybe it was the fact that my two prospective buyers didn't get back to me after I emailed them some properties for review or maybe it was because I had to spend more money to finally get my supra key.
All to say - The day was dragging along and then my phone rang, and on the other line was a lady called Margaret Rome.
She saw my featured post on AR and thought to give me a call and give me some advice. Now if any of you know who Margaret Rome is, (Margaret Rome, REALTOR with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, located in Baltimore, MD) you know she is an extremely extremely successful Agent/Broker.
I was touched by her generosity, being her kindness even made me teary eyed, she went far beyond her call of duty and was so nice, not to mention helpful. I hope she knows that I cannot articulate how honored and lucky I feel to have had this honor.
she gave me some very helpful pointers and even left a comment to reiterate them on my "New Agent's Blues" blog, basically she said that as a new agent with a tight budget you need to ask for assistance from the people you already know, her approach however was a lot different from the others I have heard so far - and I believe it would prove more effective. In addition she advised me to find a mentor, someone who is successful in the business who would allow me to assist them and who I can learn from. Finally she emphasized the importance of staying positive and associating with persons with the same attitude.
Thanks Margaret and all the others who took time from their busy day to help us newbie transition into Real Estate a little easier.
This person said it best, about Margaret Rome - "I have known her quiet kindness and unobtrusive generosity, and want to add my applause. She is who I want to be when I grow up". by Peg Silloway at 1/19/2006
