Thank you to Roberta Lee for sharing the world of  "meme" with me.

♫ I'm a truly blessed mom of three wonderful kids.  I've been married to the same extraordinary man for 17 years and thank God every day for allowing me to be a part of their lives.

♫ My parents died 11 months a part in 2001 and 2002.  I fully believe that when one partner dies, sometimes the will to live in the remaining spouse dwindles.  This was the case for my parents.  My Mom died unexpectedly in 2001.  My Dad, who had fought cancer for 14 years, lost his will to live when she passed and gave up his fight in 2002.

When they passed, I took it upon myself to prepare the family home to sell.  I received several offers in the first few days.  After we closed escrow, the Realtor® suggested I look into home staging for a career.  Ta Da!  Here we are 5+ years later and I have a thriving home staging business!  Even in the despair of their deaths, they gave me a gift!

♫  I am a former Disneyland cast member.  Having grown up in Anaheim, I always wanted to work for Disneyland.  Before you ask, I was not a character in a parade.  I worked in advertising/marketing.

♫ We're expecting!  Puppies that is!  Our white boxer, Dutchess, is expecting puppies any day now!

♫ If I were to do it all over again - I think I'd like to be a singer.  Someone incredibly famous, good looking, vocally talented and making lots of $$ traveling the world making other people happy!

Well, there you have it.  A little bit about me and the world I live in.  Now, I have the honor of passing along the privilege of Meme to:

Shell Brodnax

Jennifer Rai

Karen George

I can't wait to read what you fabulous ladies have to share.  Until then ... toodles!

Sarah, I couldn't agree with you more.  Even today, I feel like my Mom and Dad have played a significant role in my business.  My Mom owned her own business my entire life - I feel like she really set me up to be an entrepreneur - mentally, physcially, financially ....  you get the picture.

Theresa, Thanks for your comments.  Any advice for a "new (puppy-delivering) mom"?

You are extraordinary! What a lovely MEME.  The part about your parents brought a tear to my eyes.  Yes, if two are really united in beloved marriage then the other just wants to join them.  I truly understand that.  I've not experienced it, but I understand.  How blessed they were to have each other and a daughter like you.

What type of dog is Dutchess?  Yes, waiting for puppies can be quite exciting.  Have you made her a whelping box?  Let us know when she has her babies. :)

A singer?  Oh I would love to hear you sometime.  Yes, we do allow ourselves the woulda, coulda, shouldas sometimes.  I always tell my son, "Oh well you have next time to get it right! :)"

Thank you Calie this was delightful and very well done.

Theresa - You sound like a pro!  I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that Dutchess will do the job right.

Thank you, Roberta for your kind words.  Dutchess is a white boxer.  The Daddy is our other white boxer, Deacon.  You can see their pictures at the bottom of my profile page.  The whelping box is ready to go and I believe Dutchess has approved it (she keeps checking it out)... Her "official" due date was last Wednesday (3/21), so now we're on over-time.  The vet just keeps telling me to be patient.  I just feel so stupid just sitting and watching her for "a sign"....  Oh well, it'll happen ....I'll be sure to blog the arrival.

Yes they sure seem to have their own time table.  I have been there and done that.  Is this her first litter?

I'm waiting like you on pins and needles. :)

 Deacon & Dutchess

Hi Roberta ~ I wish I had good news to report , but alas - no puppies yet. I just can't take this! I'm the one who feels like the nervous Mom.  I've been cleaning, mopping, organizing - getting everything together for the big arrival.  I must be nuts! Heaven knows, all Dutchess is doing is sleeping.

I made an appt to see the vet tomorrow a.m. to have her checked.  We're already 4 days past due.  Thanks for asking, I'll be sure to keep you informed :-)

I just had to LOL at your comments.  Yes, I do know how you feel.  I had a Siberian Husky and went through all of the whelping box etc, ect, ect.  Like you I was more nervous than she seemed, however this was her first littler and when the first puppy came she just went nuts.  She couldn't understand what was coming out of her.  Luckily I was home at the time so I grabbed her, calmed her down and we delivered 6 healthy puppies in my bedroom on new carpeting. The whelping box did come in handy after the fact.  Hope you fare better.  Do let me know. :)  Good luck my dear.

By the way, is this her first litter?  If so they are a lot like us 2 legged animals.  First litters seem to be a tad late.  I just know she is fine, it's the human here I'm worried about.  Take a deep breath now! :) You know whew, whew, whew; hee, hee, hee now relax. :)

Calie-- Oh no!  I accidentally deleted my post!  I don't want to type it all over again!  Did you get a copy via email (as I do when someone makes a comment)?  If so, would you mind forwarding that email to me at karen.george@azwm.com ??

I honestly don't know how that happened!  I am sure I clicked "edit" and not "delete" but maybe I'm crazy.

If Calie didn't get a copy I will gladly send her mine.  I got it and it is beautiful.  I am so sorry to hear about your cancer but you go girl.  Sounds like you are beating the H@!@~ out of it.  Keep it up.

I could relate totally with your girlish dream.  I too have always wanted my own horse ranch, but I thought it was because I was raised on one.  Of course mine (like yours I'm sure) would have all of the animals that go on the farm!   LOL I love the fact that you are running in the Marathon.  Good luck to you.  Great post and let me know if you need a copy. :)

The Sound of Music!  One of my favorite movies of all time.

Thank you both- Roberta Lee and Calie!

Okay Calie.  Here I am, your fellow Chandler AZ professional, ready to give my Meme.  (I don't really know what that means, but I think I've figured it out!)

Quick sidebar:  My husband and I have a second home in West Phoenix that we are going to need to sell in about 6 months (when the tenants move out).  We were just talking about "staging" today.  Since you are a fellow Chandlerite (is that a word), we might as well use you!  So just know that I'll be calling you as soon as my Laveen tenants move out.

Okay.  Hmmmm.  What can I say?

1.  First of all, I am terribly sorry to hear about your parents.  What an incredibly, tragic loss.  I guess this can be my first item.  I was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer two years ago, which is considered terminal.  I was pretty much finished, but if I left my husband alone, I know he would go off the deep end.  So, right now, I am in remission- a breast cancer survivor at the ripe old age of 32.  I keep a blog (very long and boring) about my fight with cancer at www.fighting-breast-cancer.com

2.  I love puppies; I love dogs.  I have two right now and I would have a third if I could.  Unfortunately, our house is a little too small for three dogs.  (Isn't everyone's?)  I want another "pound dog", because my heart melts for misfits.  My husband wants a $4000, already trained, German Shepard attack dog.  I am not sure why.  We live in Chandler AZ and don't regularly need to police the neighborhood.

3.  My fantasy is to own a horse property, with the horses to go with it of course.  My husband and I began looking, and than I got sick.  Darn!  My husband wanted me to get the best possible medical care, so he insisted that I go to the Mayo Clinic.  It almost made us go bankrupt.  We have paid the Mayo Clinic...well, a LOT over the past two years.  So, Cancer really screwed up my girlish dream of a horse-and-pasture, but I'm not giving up.

4.  My favorite sport is baseball and my husband and I barely work during March in Arizona.  I am kind of ashamed to admit this (but it's all American), you are most likely to find us at Tempe Diablo stadium on any given workday with a beer and a hotdog in our laps.  The Cubs, the Giants, the Brewers...and our favorite:  The Angels.  How can we work when it is 77 degrees outside and the Angels are playing the Oakland A's ten miles away?

5.  I am training to run in the Mayo Clinic Marathon next February.  I've lost about 30 pounds in the past six months!  My husband is amazed.  I bet most people don't know that breast cancer can make you fat.  Yep.  Totally true.

Thanks Calie!  I hope it was interesting.

Calie-- I just realized...  You grew up in Anaheim and my favorite baseball team is the Anaheim Angels.  I really didn't throw that in for effect.

Hey Karen - Thanks for sharing all about you.  I thought that was a really fun coincidence that your favorite team just  happened to be my hometown team.  I grew up in a era where the Angels were heroes and we all supported them - no matter what kind of season they had.  My Mom was a huge supporter of the Angels back in the day.  We attended lots of luncheons with the players.  If I only I knew then, what I know now I actually would have kept all those autographs!  Enjoy your day!
