What do you gain on Active Rain?

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAXPrestige

I have been looking at this site and blogging a little over the last few months.

I have often wondered what are the benefits of spending time here.

I have read of agents that have received business and referrals. That is wonderful and I hope that it happens to me soon.

I have found that this site is valuable for the amount of information that can be gained. It is useful to see what other people are experiencing, gain some insight on a situation and to know that you are not the only one dealing with the same issues.

So, what do you gain on Active Rain. Why is it worth your valuable time to spend time in the rain?

I gain perspective from the "experienced" agents, due to my "newness"...  It wonderful to read all the varieties of blogs and then create a group of your own, like I did yesterday.  The "Saint John ENERGIZERS".  I love learning new techniques on the internet, blogging and just applying new technology to my business.

I've had 2 clients tell me they saw something I wrote on the internet and wanted to work with me.  I also like learning through other agents' experiences.

When I started I was looking for referral knowledge. I would read doing slow times at open houses and instead of watching re-runs on TV. I never had blogged before and was content just reading. One day, I read something and wanted to comment, so I did. The agent e-mailed me and said I should post that comment it was better than my post... I now have friends from all over the country and they're always helping me. I still get referrals, and I am happy

you gain credit for what you know best and you become a source for getting that certain something you got to offer ... you also get found a lot easier by Google and other "search engine" ...

When I first started is was all about gaining knowledge from others in the business.  I always liked learning as much as I can in any field of endeavor.  What better way than via the pro's who have been around the block more than I.  But what I enjoy the most, is getting to know other people,  making new acquaintances and hopefully friends along the way.  In the process, I have within three weeks or so on the site picked up my first client from AR.

Sue,

Good question - already a lot of good responses.  The main goal for us is to increase our online exposure in conjunction with our main site - Philadelphia Real Estate .

We have already started to receive from positive feedback from clients after only 2 months or so but we believe it will take a lot of time to continue to build our brand name.  However, the other benefit that we are experiencing now, which was unexpected, is the vast amount of resources and info that can be found.  I have learned so much in the matter of just 2 months or so, especially on the tech side, it is amazing.  And then there is the positive karma of all the people - is amazing.

I believe the wildcard will be the www.localism.com site and how that grows.  We already have a coupled featured posts on articles we wrote about our neighborhood - see Northern Liberties and Fishtown .  Because it is such a wildcard, we decided to also sponsor 6 neighborhoods - not exactly sure what will happen with that but it could be something big.

So, in a nutshell, that is some of our reasons : )
