Fantasy Football II

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Top Properties

Does fantasy football have sequels? I guess it does now......maybe.

Rick Beal was gracious enough to start up the Official 2008 Active Rain Fantasy Football League and it filled quite quickly. Some interested members didn't get invited or didn't act quickly enough to participate so I'm testing the waters with Active Rain 2. If you're interested and have not yet recieved an invite from ESPN to participate...shoot me your email address and I'll get you an invite pronto. We've got a league of three as of 8/20/08 and are in dire need of 9 more members to get going!

Here's the disclaimer though: I'm already in the first league! I won't give up my spot in that until we have 12 people interested, signed up and ready to rock and roll (11 to join me in AR2 and one to take my place in AR1). We're going to do 12 teams, live draft at a date determined by the masses and hopefully have a bunch of fun!

ok - I did the poll.    I just think it is MOST FAIR TO ALL PLAYERS to let the system assign the draft order randomly - AT THE TIME OF THE DRAFT.

Jim & Rick ~ What is the latest scoop? Are we going to 14 teams? Is Danny going to let me take his spot in the 12 team format? I would rather have Danny play too. I would just like to know the plan so I can prepare myself for the draft. I haven't played fantasy football before and I would like to practice a couple mock drafts and get things set up ahead of time.

I already gave my tickets to the Seahawks preseason game vs the Raiders (Friday Aug 29th) away, so I can make the live draft.

.....would be nice fellas. I thought the reason to get this going a month in advance would be so it was set by draft time- not sure though. A/R 2 has ZERO interest...I've sent plenty of personal invites and only had 2 bites----the draft can be whatever order it wants because I won't be there on Friday night- so I'll have to get what espn deems for me. I don't see any reason NOT to add two teams to the official league. We have 12 teams and only 14 people out of the 104,000 here even want to play....why not extend it by a pair to accommodate all. If someone comes in after and whines- too bad....I've had a second league going for 12 days and found 2 people to be in it.

Kara- would love to see your poll results! The ones on the site show 75% (3-1) agreeing with my thoughts...even counting you and DT- it's 3-3 vote with 5 unaccounted for. Like I said- run it however, I won't be able to draft that day anyway- so I'll have to rely on pre-rank. But the only ones that benefit from a random draft minutes before starting are the ones who aren't prepared....and judging by your smack-talk i KNOW that's not you!!! :)

OK, I hope all this is laid to rest as I have now set my pre-draft rankins. Just so everyone knows, I have elected to take Michael Vick as my first overall draft. And with the next one, I am taking warren sapp as my receiver. boy I know I am going to win.

Danny - Have you thought about drafting Shawn Alexander and Jake Plummer?

With Jim's permission, I'd like to move all of this over to the other blog and let this one die.

I'd almost be honored to lose to you, Linda! I've not found another woman anywhere in life that knows football like you do...that said, your team doesn't have a prayer! Hope to build up a big lead today because when Cutler hits the field tomorrow night and starts slinging the ball all over that over-rated Raiders secondary, it's over!

Hi folks, we might want to let this thread die and move the (great) comments over to The Official 2008 Active Rain Fantasy Football League

Come on Rick- who cares? a) it's a REAL ESTATE based website...so the points garnered for fantasy football talk are, eh, bonuses at best. b) It WAS dead about two weeks then was brought back with a note directed to me by my fantasy opponent for the week....where's the harm? c) Bringing talk back two days after it subsided does little more than move it to the top of the mountain, right? d) I really don't think the comments on that side are really any better than they are here- or anywhere else for that matter and e) why don't we kill all point-earning threads at this point? Wouldn't it be more prudent for the other 12 people in the league to be getting points on blogs too for something they have an equal interest in? We should probably be posting all at the official ESPN site.

You're above that man, especially when you jumped my first 2008 A/R FFL thread and started your own a week or two later...I graciously handed it off to you only starting this one when activity looked as if it was so high that we'd need another league. Don't be threatened by A/R2 sir, it never got off the ground!

Oh and Linda- I had you dead in my sights.....If only I had the you-know-whats to play Eddie Royal at WR instead of Braylon Edwards or Wes Welker!!!

Jim,

It's not a big deal, I thought it might be easier to consolidate onto one thread instead of volleying back and forth.

Rick, I have to be honest here. I agree with Jim. When I first saw the comment that you made, I thought it to be "self absorbed" at the least. I questioned why your post was better than Jim's to be written on. I have to agree with Jim in the fact that I am going to comment where I feel like commenting and I do not give a damn who gets the points. This is not a popularity contest either way it goes.

Bottom line is, it is suppose to be for fun and "bragging" rights, but when I see this, it makes me not even want to be part of it.

As for the volleying back and forth, no offense, but until today, I was pretty much unaware of your post till you posted the link in your comment.

Guys,

I'm really sorry if you're upset, I meant no personal gain by this and all I care about is playing fantasy football.  As with many internet forums, sometimes comments are not understood properly and I meant no harm to anybody, nor am I trying to gain from any comments on these forums.  I'll shut up about it as it's clear I'm just getting more and more misunderstood.
