The Village of Manchester is located only 15 miles west of Ann Arbor. It is a beautiful drive down Austin Rd from Saline with mostly farm land in between. I never mind the drive because in any season it is very peaceful.
Manchester has a charming downtown area, with unique shops down Main Street. People in the Village still come to the post office to pick up their mail.
Manchester is located on the Raisin River with a walking bridge across Main Street. Manchester has a weekly paper called the Manchester Enterprise. Six years ago, Manchester started a Riverfolk Music and Art Festival at Carr Park.
The new high school was just completed in 2004, and is state of the art facility with a performing art center, weight rooms, and media center and telecommunications labs.
All of Manchester schools are schools of choice for any student within Washtenaw County or that border Washtenaw County. Their mascot is the Flying Dutchman and the colors are maroon and gold.
Sasha Farm is located in Manchester and is a safe haven for animals. Sasha Farms is an acronym for Sanctuary and Safe Haven for Animals. And the mission of Sasha Farms is to provide a safe haven for any unwanted or neglected animals. It is located on 65 Ac of gorgeous land. It is currently the Mid West largest animal shelter providing not only food and medical care for any animal but a sense of security and affection. It is run completely by volunteers and they are always in need of volunteers. Currently Sasha Farms has over 200 animals. As a 501(c) 3 organization your donation to Sasha Farms is tax deductible.
In Washtenaw County and beyond Manchester is known for their famous Chicken Broil. It is in its 55th year and over 12,000 chicken dinners are served by the folks in Manchester.
Yes, I have both attended and picked up the delicious chicken dinners. Photos of the Manchester Chicken Broil can be seen on Flickr.
Homes in the Village of Manchester are quaint and affordable. During the last 10 years, several new subdivisions opened up in Manchester, Deer Valley and Emerald Glen, both of which I have sold homes in over the years.
By Washtenaw County standards they are also affordable and most are on acre lots. Prices range from 50K to 1.6 M with the majority being between 100 and 400K.
