It goes on and on...

By
Real Estate Agent with Backyard Realty Group LLC

I am now realizing that marketing yourself as well as your listings on-line is a full-time job in itself!  I have been in the field for a few years and I use FMLS, realtor.com, my company's website and a few others but until just recently I had not branched out to utilize other helpful sites.  I do believe I read somewhere that approximately 75-77% of buyers search the Internet for homes which means it is imperative to be on-line in this industry.  I have compiled a nice size list of sites that are useful for Realtors to list their homes on.

Real BirdInternet

Trulia

Zillow

Squidoo - I haven't quite worked this one out yet!

Postlets

Backpage

Hotpads

Oodle

Walmart Classifieds

And of course there is always Active Rain, Craigslist, and Google Base.  I also learned about Google Knol through a fellow AR associate.  (I wish I had bookmarked it so I could put a link to his page).

Here are a couple other sites that I really like that are worth checking out:

Kudzu: Rate a business

Insider Pages

Please feel free to add to these lists of sites.  I am sure many will find it useful.

Now that I have profiles set up it will only take minutes to add and change listings but doing the research to find these sites took some time.  However I must give a shot out to AR because I got a lot of useful information about these sites by searching blogs!

I am working on getting a few more blog sites where I can post my information as well...to help with SEO of course.  So far I only have a Google blog (it is still in the works of being up and running).  If you know of other great ones that you would recommend please share.

I seem to be keeping busy.  My office has quite a dilemma but a good one to say the least.  We are brainstorming as to whether or not we should rearrange some clients/responsibilities to add to our plates or if we need to hire another community manager.  I would be lying if I said having too much work was a problem.  I am excited because real estate is picking up as well (which is what I love).  Right now I manage 6 communities but I must admit I am excited that real estate is picking up, that is my true passion!

Technorati Profile (Plug: Technorati is great for your blogs as well.)

I spent the weekend in the office working on brochures, new listing flyers, a direct mail out and re-vamping a pre-listing packet.  Busy, busy I love it!

That's what my husband says - keeping up with all our listings on the web is becoming a full time job. Entering them, editing them, changing prices on all of them everytime we have a price reduction (which happens alot in this market), posting Open Houses, etc., it's driving him to want to hire an assistant. I've been urging him to do that for awhile, because the highest and best use of his time is networking. He is great with people and I told him the business he will bring in will more than pay for the assistant.

Thanks for the list of sites. We use most of them, but there are a couple we will check out.

Don't exactly understand what a community manager is.

Sharon: A community manager is a property manager for a subdivision that has a Homeowner's Association.  We manage their accounts, make sure that the homeowner's follow all the rules and regulations of their subdivision, make sure that the pool gets cleaned, that the landscapers came, etc.  I could go on...  There is a lot to it.  We work directly with the board.

Kristen:  Well it is hard to keep organized...but right now I created a log (a legal pad) where I have the website name listed, my username and my password.  When I get a new listing I go right on down my list.  I also created a seperate calendar just for my listings.  I wrote all the expiration dates for the websites, so I know when to log back in and update the listing if it has not sold by then.  Eventually I will probably make an excel database but for now my notepad works!
